My heart was telling me heā€™s still good haha. Remember how much he killed us that playoff series? That was probably his last big moments as a player. I was basing my opinions off that

Oh i know, just bustin your stones.

Don't mind the danault thing, but what is his contract, it might just be a lateral move instead of just re-signing strome. and would montreal shop him?

How do you like this idea...

FLA to NYR: Barkov
NYR to FLA: 2020 1st (CAR), 2021 1st (NYR), Chytil, Nils & rights to Strome.

MTL to NYR: Danault
NYR to MTL: Buch & a some 4th rd pick

Then we have Zib, Barkov and Danault as our 1, 2, 3.

We dont take much of a hit, we open up a spot on the line up for Kravtsov and we keep Fast.

LAF, Zib, Krav
Panarin, Barkov, Kakko
Kreider, Danault, Fast
Lemeiux, whoever, Gauthier

His contract is golden, 3 mill for one more year then heā€™s a UFA. Thatā€™s why itā€™ll probably cost to much to obtain him. What it does more then anything is, we can dump Strome without hesitation, it gives you another year of Chytil at 3C and Danualt is a fine 2C for a year.

Worst case, you trade him at the deadline for a first rd pick

Fla aint moving Barkov, he is their best player. It would have to be a giant overpayment for his production/salary

I would overpay for him. I think we have enough pieces to atleast make the FLA think about it for a second. Id put ADA in that trade too if that put FLA over the edge.

Itā€™s a great idea, but hard to see them trading Barkov. I donā€™t doubt weā€™d have the assets to get him. They do want a shake up so you never know

I just don't think FL does anything with Barkov unless they decide to blow up everything and even then he would be the only one who stays. I mean he is a center with a cap hit at 5.9? the next 2 years and has a production of probably mid 80's in points. He is a center you build the team around.

I think you did hit on the guy we could hit the homerun with in Barkov. Heā€™s only got two years before he gets a big 8-9 mill year deal, and Zib is gonna get 10. Thinking ahead thatā€™s a bit scary

Without a doubt Chytil has to go, deangelo would be very appealing to them, and Iā€™d say Krav or Buchnevich and definitely a first rd pick.

They did foolishly trade Trochek, which makes it all the more unlikely theyā€™d trade another center in Barkov

I was reading today on some article that the Rangers might put the squeeze on TB not only for Cirelli, but also for Sergachev. First off, Im not sure we got the funds required to sign them both with Hanks contract on the books. Secondly, if it comes down to a trade theres a lot of teams with lots more high end picks and prospects than can offer for them individually.

I see no scenario where Barkov gets traded unless he tells FL he is definitely not resigning. I also think the cost would be insane. I mean think about it, he's a 24 yr old center who the last three years is over a ppg player. Imagine him on a good team, he could easily be a 100 pt guy.

But can't we do that with Strome? He's a fine 2C, but the whole point of moving assets is to upgrade. Danualt and Strome are a wash in the grand scheme of things.

If guarantees to resign with the Rangers... I like him so much and the center position is so damn important, Id consider trading the 1st overall pick for him.

Itā€™s clear the Habs need some offensive minded wingers. If they offered me Danault for Buchnevich right now, I jump on it and submit the trade. I think thatā€™s a very good deal for both teams. We may need to add a smaller piece into it

That lets you trade Strome for whatever and not have to commit to him now, use Danault for a year and that will let Chytil try again to become a better all around center on the 3rd line, with Laf. They could be dynamite!šŸ§Ø . If he doesnā€™t then you have the option to resign Danault after next year is up

- Slimtj100

I think you are VASTLY under rating the value of Danault. I don't think Buch and our late 1st rounder this year is nearly enough to offer in a trade. He is a perennial Selke Trophy candidate and Montreal has no reason to move him.

He has a career high 53 points, career high 13 goals, grand total of 0 playoff goals. I get that itā€™s more than just points and heā€™s good in all 3 zones, but heā€™s essentially what a 3rd line center should be, not a guy worth Buch a 1st+ thatā€™s going to be centering Panarin

I feel like this offseason is going to end up Cirelli or stay the course with Strome. If theres no one available that is so significantly better than Strome to justify giving up assets when we know hes fully capable of playing and keeping up with Panarin.
