Would you guys ever consider dangling some of the young talent you have both in the pool and on the roster to trade for a star player? specifically at defense or center? Im sure its a question you guys have asked before, but with a lot of teams struggling this year, a lot of teams will be looking at a lot of big moves to consider this offseason. Could you guys go after a guy like Echiel if he were to become available?

Do you guys have that workhorse defense pairing that can provide good two way hockey?

You guys are set on wing for the next decade. But is there any worry that you guys could just develop into a Toronto-type team where a lot of big names play exciting offensive hockey but can never get it done when it matters?

not trolling, asking as a guy who likes watching in the Metro. As Washington & Pittsburgh start to take a step back, there is a great race between Rangers/Carolina/Philadelphia in terms of the next big team(s) in the Metro. A lot of young talent in the Metro.

I have no problems bringing Strome back if we can’t find a 2C in a trade. Hopefully Chytil takes the next step also and if Strome falls a little he can be a great 3C with Chytil stepping up. I’d be willing to go longer term (4-5 years) but I think the smart move is a 2 year deal worth around 5 per.

Lafreniere is quite the prize Grats
I’d explore offers to cover all bases.

Sens have picks & need a goalie.
-1oa/Georgiev for 3oa/32oa/Pinto
-pick Stutzle or Byfield

My reason is Lafreniere is the true 1oa but the drop to the next tier of 2nd/3rd isn’t a lot imo. At 3oa you get an elite C prospect.
2nd pick is very high & Pinto a good prospect.

I don’t even think we’re in the same ballpark with that offer.

Jan, a 4 for 1 (3rd overall) might be what it takes. We’d be getting a 1A/1B center that’s cost controlled for 3 years on an ELC and then signed to a reasonable contract after the fact. Those types of trades happen all the time at the deadline for rentals that are UFA at the end of the year. I think in order to get the 3rd overall, it would have to be an overpayment on top of the already high cost to acquire it. (Would you take Buch Chytil Kravtsov and 25 overall for Kakko?)

it's gotta be a Lindros from Quebec to Philly type package for us to even consider giving up the chance to pick first overall in our history

if Lundqvist isn't here anymore, then there is absolutely no reason to keep throwing Georgiev in trade proposals

the only reason to trade Georgiev is to let Lundqvist finish out his contract and then retire

I got cool with him again and then he reacted so negatively to winning the lottery last season and actually being very negative about acquiring Adam Fox that I just absolutely had it with him

Love Eichel, but we cannot bring on another contract like that unless Trouba is going the other way. I think we look at trading strome buch or Tony D along with our other 1st this year for a 2C.

We 100% need a better bottom 6 and identity/system that works in the PO. We had that with Torts and AV, but not Quinn yet which is why I think this is his last year unless he kills it come PO time if we get there. We need players who battle come PO time not just pure skill.

I think Miller and Trouba can be that top pairing eventually or Nils and Fox or even Lindgren Fox

Rangers are not trading that pick. If anything a roster player and our other 1st will be moved. George/Igor will be our goalie tandem for a while

New York did make a deal last season to get a top-pair blueliner in Jacob Trouba. Would I be shocked if they make a similar type of deal? No, but not expecting it. But all over twitter and this blog has been proposals to get Eichel, who may not be happy in Buffalo. The cost to acquire and cap hit are prohibitive, but JD and Gorton will explore every option to improve this team, so kicking the tires on Eichel or someone of that ilk - maybe Barkov - would not surprise me in the least.

I think we saw that Panarin has grit as does Zib. Kreider certainly does. Kakko has gotten more physical but I agree, more is needed.
