What's the center we have done for the Sabres ? honest question. and Lafreniere is a center.
- SABRES 89

He is very much not a center

Imo, the playoff drought extends out another 3-4 years. At least. After all. What are the chances of a rookie-dominant team overtaking the top three in the division without a no.1 center?
- Michael Pachla

So you want to keep Eichel and his huge contract knowing we aren't a playoff team ? If you actually think that Eichel will still be here after next year, better you then me. He has more pull then people think and Pegula and her followers will find out the hard way.

OK, you should stick to complaining about who is blogging on this site for the Sabres. Have you come off the ledge now.

Don't get salty with me because you thought Lafreniere was a center.

Clearly you learned nothing from the ROR debacle. Keep your good players

I feel bad for Eichel, guy's heart is huge, his game is huge, he just happened to get drafted by one of the worst organisations in the NHL.

Learn what? blame your boy Botterill for not knowing how to handle things, this team is going no place with Eichel, it's poorly run and managed.

I want to keep Eichel. Period. Full stop.

$10m post-covid will be cheap for a top-5 center. Build around him. And that includes re-signing Skunk, unless he demands too much.

My boy Botterill? I wanted him fired since April of '19. He sucked. Let's give the new guy a chance to fix the 2C position and see what happens this year

scouts have said he could play center though

Finally, Bill Placzek of Draft Site has this report on Lafreniere:

Off the charts hockey sense and imagination on offense starting with the 2018 World U-18s where he surprised his linemates with passes that could have been coming from a seasoned NHL pro. Fluid and fearless going inside the circles in the attack zone, where he steps out front to screen and set up for tip ins. Will be a solid attacking wing but might also find a home as a NHL centre with the way he easily makes his way inside. A smooth high speed heads up player who moves effortlessly through the attack zone with such good confidence and presence. There is no denying how quickly he lets the puck fly, and how decisive he is while possessing it. Will fire cutting towards the net, and always has his stick down looking for the puck. Strong and difficult to move and not adverse to giving as well as submitting.

We have been building around him for years now, the only thing the Sabres are good at is going around in circles. They should switch to NASCAR.

My main concern right now besides the roster are the People at the top. A NO Experience NHL GM and A HC who I'm still trying to figure out. That's a big problem to me.

Eichel, the roster, it's all going to get flushed out eventually. Either by their demands or the play of the players/team.

I'm very concerned we don't have the right people making the command decisions on roster. Therefore we may just keep circling the drain...

And Willy Nylander played center in game 5 of the playoffs. Lafreniere will be drafted as a winger.

It's a terrible idea but have at it

Yea give him a chance to do what exactly ? Problem for you is, I know more about this then I post. You think anyone on the staff or within has any kind of positive attitude towards any of this ? Your star player is saying it over and over but it still hasn't sunk in.

yet he was compared to Gilbert Perreault by Gretzky

https://www.sportsnet.ca/...rospect-profile-big-read/

Gretzky at the 2018 world summer under-18s: “He reminds me of Gilbert Perreault,” Gretzky told Sportsnet’s Mark Spector. “He can skate, handle the puck. He’s just around the puck so much. When you have that much puck sense, that much speed, I can see him being a centreman at the next level.”

maybe some of us know more then the greatest hockey player ever, but I doubt it

No they haven't. This wasn't Jack's team until the ROR trade. Not saying that he was some secondary piece, but once that and his new deal happened, it became his team and he took off. He's clearly leading the way and they re just now trying to build around him.

How they do it and what constitutes "Sabres hockey" are to be determined, but he's the undisputed center of the Sabres hockey universe which was/is the role he wanted.

Imo

Gretzky was also a terrible coach. I won't belabor the point.

?

I didn't call anyone any names. I said trading Eichel for Lafreniere is a terrible idea. I will stick by that assessment. Lafreniere will be drafted as a winger. I also stick by that assessment
