I hear you man. I’ve bought and paid via emt project cars not even in the same province while drunk. My wife sees it as a problem. I see it as an unexpected stealth camping road trip.
It’s all about perspective

The girls buy their stuff, we buy ours....I guess. (or deposit the sh1t out of stuff we never get)

Saw the new Bronco, made me just want to buy a Bronco from 1985 and fix it up good tbh
- TheMussel

I get that except $60k for a decent 1985 or $60k-ish for a 2021 with better handling, brakes, suspension, navi, MPG, and every other possible upgrade....

I'll go new. JMHO.

Funny you post that. When I saw some of this discussion I was going to post:

Buy a Corolla, pay for it in 3 years, drive it for 10, repeat, retire richer. I don't take that advice myself, but I'm closer to that than a cybertruck

My first new car, did well with it, was a little pissed off when the dealership overcharged the crap out of me when it needed brakes at about 70K Km but high resale when I unloaded it with a zillion km. on it. Have had lots of nicer cars and suv's since, but my engineering sensibilities have taken over and I am more into utilitarian purchases at this point.

Yeah

Toyotas have lowest average maintenance cost over a 10 year span out of all car brands though, and high resale value tho, which is where I think their badge thing comes from.

TBH we stay away from VW and Audis mainly for the whole monkey gas chamber thing

Got the 2019 Rav Hybrid. Love it. Really enjoy the safety features, great to drive. First non Mustang in 16 years.

Cars are a huge waste of money.

Brakes are a problem in ALL cars. This is done on purpose because they don't have to warranty them at all, except for some mechanical defect. I can tell you that even that is bullpoop. I love my CX-5, but the brakes went at less than 60K. They had a known problem and they refused to issue a recall or fix it. So I had a full brake job at my expense even though I had also paid for yearly brake service.

When I got my feedback survey. I advised them they would never see me again. They ultimately lost money playing this game, but I am not naive enough to believe any other manufacturer is better.

Oh, and my first new car was a civic hatchback... owned it for 8 years, still one of my favourite cars ever.

I am interested in the Rav4 Prime. The thing is, I don't think I will be able to justify the cost, which I expect to be close to 50K. I am guessing I will put on so few miles that even the plug-in savings won't make up the cost. The other thing is that there won't be any discounting. Demand will far outstrip supply. I also don't want to buy the first model year of any car.

I am keeping my 10-year old Nissan until next year, just in case the Rav4 Prime becomes a good idea. That performance in an SUV is tough to pass up

I know. First year I was a maniac driving keeping it in electric mode. Still hardly ever fill it up though.

My has the Mercedes SUV plug in. It gets about 16 km on a charge. Since aspheric works 5 km from home, cool. Don’t really like the car though.

I agree, but there are exceptions. My first three cars cost me very little, they were actually good investments. My first was a plymouth valiant. Bought it for $50, it had a hole in the gas tank so I could only fill the tank to about a third full. I drove it for two years and sold it for $200 without dropping a dime into it other than a few oil changes. My second vehicle was a Ford econoline van (lime green). Won it in a poker game, Drove it for about 8 months including a 2 month trip fishing in Northern Ontario, the bed in the back was handy in my high school days for some shaggin. My third car was a 1970 Cuda, hardtop with a hemi. My dad's best friend passed away and his wife sold it to me for $3500. It had only 20K miles on it. I drove it for 2 years and sold it for $10K (I was greedy and stupid would be worth a fortune today)

Living North of 50, that warranty claim would be consistently open like a Will and Jada marriage. No good.

My Honda Clarity gets 130km on a charge. Big battery and its not small holds 5 people and I can fit 4 sets of golf clubs in the trunk. Super quiet and lots of pep.

Price out an old one brother...some $100k+....hence Ford got smart and brought it back with a similar look and all the new gadgets.

Ford doubled production and it's still sold out with a standing waiting list of a sh1t ton! Crazy.

Ended up with a 2016 Forester that we picked up last week. Pretty fun car so far, hauled a desk in it.

Winter will be the true test but kind of looking forward to it?

To be fair on our first date she got in my car and saw a hole in the under her feet. She earns enough for the car it’s just that she only wanted it for the name.

Valiant was far from a K-car. Had a chrysler slant 6 engine. One of the best production engines ever made. I am convinced they stopped producing them because they would run for 300 to 400K miles without needing to be rebuilt. And it cost about $700 to rebuild one.

Loved the trailhawk, I also had a 19, agree on the strorage. I went from the Grand Cherokee Summit to the trailhawk. I gave the trailhawk to my wife. Good and real 4wd suv.
