This is why I don't see Hasek vs. Perrault as any debate as to who was the greatest player in Sabres history. With Hasek, you didn't just say "no player has any business being able to do what he does", you said "no human being has any business being able to do what he does". Perrault, while great, didn't make you say that. There were other players that could do what he did, perhaps better.

Hi all. Michael had to move on from writing due to a new employment situation which made it difficult for him to write on a consistent basis. We are currently looking at new candidates for this space. Thanks for your patience

I can see how writing articles this long wouldn’t leave much time for anything else. Lol. Moral of the story: If he’s there at pick 8, draft Askarov!

Nothing (good) to talk about so we might as well talk about Hasek - like we tend to do from time to time. That's what we do in Buffalo - we reminisce about the good ol' days because that's all we have. Sad, sad franchise we've become ...

That being said, Hasek could be talked about as one of the greatest athletes of all-time. Never mind best Sabre or best NHL-er - he's one of the best athletes in the history of sports, period. That's how good he was.

They don't have the luxury of waiting 3-4 years for their pick to materialize into something useful

Best part of the referenced article:

Nobody put it better than Hasek himself: “If you give them something to shoot at, you can set them up for failure.”

Setting them up for failure. The most apt – and chilling – description of goaltending I’ve ever heard.

He was amazing to watch. I just wish he had some sort of anything around him to help. (sound familiar?)

The notion that he "didn't have help" is a myth. In 1999, the Sabres had the best power play in the postseason, and there really wasn't a close second (yes, that's an exaggeration). That 2001 team was good, really good. You could even make the argument he was the reason they lost the Penguins series.

I don't agree. Look at that roster. Lindy doesn't get enough credit for dragging (along with Hasek) all those average players to above average results.

if we as a country is going to get bent out of shape when someone may meddle in our election, perhaps we should stay out of other countries election

i counter this with the fact that we had varada on the top line for a portion of these years.

those teams were OK.

it was a one man offense, satan

how he got that many points being the only legit scorer, I will never understand

satan might be the most under rated sabre ever

are we going to look back and say the same thing about Eichel?

and i would bet Satan is the most underrated sabre, i cant think of anyone else that would rival him
