Tyler Cameron: Who gets the net in Chicago?
This blog was originally titled, "Corey Crawford – the secret weapon", however, Corey has been absence at training camp after a couple of days.
Patrick Kane can score, Jonathan Toews can lead, and Duncan Keith can play defence, but none of them physically keep the puck out the net (outside of the odd blocked shot) like Crawford.
Who starts in net if Crawford can't play? |

UPDATE: Looks like de Haan had to tend to a family emergency and Colliton is not sure if he would return.
He and Crawford were the only 2 not at practice today. |

Tyler, great piece on laying out the options. Very thorough and detailed on the goalie situation.
If Crawford is not playing, I go with Subban as the starter and Delia as the backup.
Break the glass to the goalie case if needed to bring in Tomkins then Lankinen. |

I would go with Subban. Although he did not play in a playoff game, he experienced the atmosphere the last 2 years he was in Vegas. |

DeHaan - didn’t think he would return today, or ever?
Goalie - I’m with the crowd that says give Subban a good reasonably long look. I recall (perhaps incorrectly) that he did well that first season as a replacement for Fleury before getting hurt - 2.68/.910/13-4-2 for the season.
And he was OUTSTANDING in his 1:10 on ice in Chicago last March 3.... |

Better chance now of getting the 1st overall pick with Crawford unfit to play. |

He was out for today.
Uncertain as to when he would return to training camp.
No further update other than it was for personal reasons and non-injury related. |

Thanks Theo!
Subban is probably the "wise" decision on paper but just have a feeling Colliton goes with Delia.
We'll see as training camp goes along. |

Yep - may move all the way up to 14.3%.
One out of seven. |

Go with Subban and see what he's got to determine if he's worth extending after the season.
Speaking of goalies, Sorokin signs with NYI, 1 year 2M, then will be a RFA.
Back to Cro, what if his unavailability is not Covid related, maybe another type of injury or just not keeping in shape to play? Will that affect the Hawks desire to re-sign him? |

how that ? |

I'll pile on and go with Subban also.
I tried to look up to see how Malcolm has done against the Oilers. a 6-3 win in March 2019 where he faced a total of 16 shots. I then realized he played on a very good defensive team when he was with Vegas.
If the games are a track meet it good be ugly. |

Looks like Hawks are closer to getting 1st over all draft pick. |

I believe Subban will be on the bench unfortunately I think coach is not a fan for some reason .If he did not play him against Detroit on the 2nd half of a back to back I very much doubt he will change his ways now .
I have zero faith in Delia and think he will last maybe till the 12min mark of the 1st period .
Other then Subban and he is a real ? to proceed with the goalie pipeline is parched of any talent .Time to get a real goalie prospect in this draft with the 1st pick #Askarov !!! |

You know what - I read that somewhere - but now that you ask, it doesn’t make sense.
It should be one out of eight chance - 13.5% - no? |

I am curious to see suppan in goal and see if he anything other than a backup. Up until now has not lived up to his 1st round status. |

You guys have 0 chance with that goaltending.
McDavid’s gonna score 80 goals in 3 games.
Can’t see you getting Lafreniere either.
Have a nice summer! |

Powers has an article in TheAthletic on Pius Suter, the leading scorer in the Swiss league that has announced his intention to play in the NHL. Powers says the Hawks are one of the teams trying to sign him. He played on the same team as Marcus Kruger last season and Kruger had high praise for him citing his skating, smarts and defensive play to go along with being a pretty good scorer.
Here's a youtube of his 2019/20 highlites.

Not knowing how each of them looks on the ice now and in foreseeable future, I would go with healthy Lankinen. He was very impressive for Finland at the last WC, although it has already been more than a year ago. If he is not fit, then Subban, to see what he is made of and give him that chance. Delia is well known, fine, but not great IMO. However, I also agree he is going to be the likely Colliton’s pick. Let’s hope that whoever is the guy in the net, he better be sharp and on the very top of his game. |

I think 12.5 % chance .Much better then we would have had in the old draft format 5% ..Dare to dream .. |
