For the most part we've been real good boys and girls here in Canada regarding this fvcking virus and doing our part, we deserve this daily hockey marathon treat. It just sounds too good to be true...

I think the point about the NHL gaining fans if they can successfully reopen is a good one. I’ve been half assedly trying to get into soccer for a couple of years but never was able to do it because it clashed with college football. These past few weeks has given me time to focus on the teams I’ve been kinda sorta following and form emotional attachments that should help me prioritize them moving forward. I think the same will happen with people who have been even remotely curious about hockey.

Wall to wall hockey sounds too good to be true. Now here’s to hoping the Pens play most of their games after 5pm or my work productivity will be in the toilet.

I think my office is opening back up around the time the NHL is slated to restart, which sucks. Would have been nice to just throw the games on while working from home.

I guess. But I mean Shero was gone long before Covid and you'd assume the Devils have been doing their due diligence for a while. No GM just gets fired unless a scandal is involved. There's a lead up, and you start vetting people during that lead up.

It sounds like they did have an exhaustive search process. I know Fitzgerald got high marka for hia deadline work and a lot of people feel he's paid his dues. I guess he was just able to sell him on his vision.

I agree it's strange to hire the lieutenant of the guy you fired. And getting good value fir unloading guys isn't the same as building the team. Bold choice in a way because if he fails it will be real easy to criticize.

Even if it were cool to just blatantly be watching sports on your work computer, you can’t stream games on a Navy computer.

Getting back to last topic how long teams will be in the bubble:

With the NHL schedule still being finalized, the tentative critical dates calendar spells out how a compressed playoffs will look:

Qualifying Rounds: 10 days - 8 teams eliminated in less than 10 days
Round 1: Fewer than 14 days - 8 Additional teams eliminated in less than 24 days
Round 2: Fewer than 14 days - 8 teams will not see families for less than 38 days
Round 3: Fewer than 14 days
Stanley Cup Final: Fewer than 13 days

Not a big deal to be away from your family for 24 days for 16 of the 24 teams.

Right. I have friends who work on ships that do 45 days to sea/45 home with their fam. Other friends are 4 weeks up north for oil or mining on camps/2 weeks home...and they all make outstanding money...but not NHL player money haha

Surprised they haven't released a training camp roster yet. Kind of curious who the last 4 players invited are.

It's bizarre how bad this PP can be sometimes.
