Hayes was a great UFA pick up last year. Filled a important void down the middle. His overall game is what makes him valuable. Love having those big hard to play against centers. Good to have high skilled guys also but I just love when I see coots or Hayes on the ice.

I’m just happy things are getting closer to hockey being played. Hope this recent spike in the States doesn’t hamper this moving forward.

I want to add. I don’t want anybody getting super ill or at worst dyeing from this virus. I’m just saying if it happens and people stay healthy than I will be super pumped.

I know Zamula is around and training with Provorov, Is he Eligible to be a Black Ace and play in the playoffs if needed or is he restricted? Being around the guys for the run could do wonders for his future. I really enjoyed the kids preseason and few games I got to see this year, although that was of course not against NHL competition.

When he announced he was going pro over a month ago, you were the first that I saw saying he would not sign with the Flyers. Good call (unfortunately)

People assumed that Allison and more so Laczynski wouldnt sign but there was always amicable reports from both sides on each player, whether it was lip service or not. With this guy, there wasnt anything from his camp. His decision seemed abrupt and I thought he saw the depth and talent in the D pool and wanted a faster route to the NHL

It seemed that the team believed they still had a chance to sign him based on what Fletcher was saying. Did Kalynuk keep the door open to signing with us? If not, was the GM seeking to get something for him? This is all a bit perplexing.

Personally, I had no doubts Allison wanted to sign here. Just had bad injury luck. Laczynski I thought 50/50 based on the lack of reports + him not reporting to prospect camp. Sadly after Wyatt hit FA it seemed highly likely he was gone based on what you mentioned: Talent in our D pool. Didn’t help we signed some ELCs to previous drafted Dmen this spring/summer as well.

FYI.. As I understand it, no NCAA players are permitted to go to camp unless they pay the entire freight for it. I think that's why Laczynski was not reporting. Wyatt was an easy call. He was looking at depth of the Flyers D prospects and likely concluded that he'd be buried in the AHL to many years. I don't blame him for thinking that.

I think it was a mistake for him to not sign here...He had the chance to learn and grow into an NHL defenseman without being thrown in a pressure cooker vice joining the dumpster fire that is now Chicago...he will get playing time for sure, but in that environment it is sink or swim...and for rushed D-men it is historically sink unless it is elite talent, which he is not...he is similar to Ghost in my opinion and we see where we are with that experiment(and I am a Ghost fan)...the good news is that we have the depth as Ghost works out his issues..Chicago does not...

All that being said, I wish him luck, and hopefully voices that were in his ear are right, but history is not on his side.

Personally I think it is a more clear path for him with the Blackhawks. But in the cap world and with the cap staying put for a couple years the game of the gm is to sell older contracts and bring in ELCs that can keep the cost down. No team can really afford to keep all their great picks. I think now a days you need to keep bringing in cheap contracts.

It will be hard to hold onto all the young talent on the back end. Just think it is part of the game now.

You make a good point on this. I'm looking at it from WK's perspective and the opportunity to get a payday.

If he didn’t think he could beat out Hagg or Friedman long term for a roster spot then go play in Chicago with your weak sauce.

No doubt. Better for him. And Chicago is not a bad city to play in. He has skills. At this point I still say he develops into a fringe NHLer.

Boom roasted! Gotta also consider York and Zamula. Plus we signed Wylie Wyatte and Hogberg.

I think along with the might of Provy, Sandman, and Myers you have guys like York and Zamula in the system. Not to mention a lot of fringe NHLers like WK. There is no denying that the Flyers’ blue line is deep with youth. Anything below middle NHL talent will be in a dog fight to get time on the big club. But spots will open for sure. No way they will be able to pay the price tag everybody will earn on that blue line.

I think FA this year will be interesting. Outside of the top talent I think guys in that middle range will be having to settle for less then what their market value was a year ago. Even though the Cap is staying steady teams are going to have to tighten the draw strings a bit just to sign their own RFA. There will be a handful of teams that will be able to make high price pitches to UFA. Guys like Braun might be out there for cheap when the dust settles.

I think no one is consideringif there will even be an AHL season this year. The league has little to no tv revenue and is almost entirely gate driven.
How will they survive without fans in the building.

Yeah. The AHL can’t run without fans. Think they are getting closer to a vaccine but it’s effectiveness and getting it out to the population will be something they will consider. From what I hear from popular believe from health experts is near the end of the year or early next year. Maybe a shortened season.

What is the deal with Zamula? I just don’t know much about him even though I have been reading a lot on him. Doesn’t seem like he is a standout D guy. Tall skinny kid who plays a smart game. Not sure I heard of anything else that stands out about his game. His numbers seem decent but not great. He gets a lot of hype. Is it really deserved or is this just a homer kind of thing. Not sure whether to get excited about him. Is his ceiling higher then a bottom pairing kind of guy?
