I voted for Karlsson (either Byfield or Stutzle) a huge return plus, plus, plus. |

A long way to go to see if the Sens can pull as much from the Karlsson trade tree as Quebec/Colorado did with the Lindros deal. But the start is pretty ambitious so far.
It is a huge ask to think of Byfield or Stutzle in the same context as Forsberg. But, so far the secondary pieces in the deal are very strong. |

I like the Jarvis pick. But he has been shooting up the rankings really fast. Seen him start coming in as high as 12. Some really great talent available from 9 through 20.
Lapierre might be the best high risk/ high reward shot with the Islanders pick. |

I voted for the Pageau trade for the simple fact that it was a great trade at the time it was made....it didn't require 2 years of hindsight, and a lot of luck, to become a great trade.
obviously the Karlsson trade will help the team more, but it wasn't as good of a trade at the time it was made |

Garrioch think we gonna trade the Isles pick for a young established player. Coming from the mouth piece of Dorion. Good chance this happening |

Marner, no.
Nylander, yes
Cirelli, yes+
There are some huge hurting teams with the CAP fixed at $81m for two years, no compliance buy outs and with Seattle drafting next year.
Leafs are probably in the worst shape, followed by Tampa. Islanders are a mess and the Sens could likely get Pageau back for a second.
Dorion has done good! |

Agreed. Need to judge the trade when it was made, not with hindsight. |

Who ever winds up winning will just be a usurper to the Dzingel trade.

The lowest I've heard quinn dropping is to 12th. So,
How much would you pay?
Isles pick (15th), Columbus second, Senators third?
Is this enough? To steep? |

I was hoping for Lafreniere and Byfield in this draft so it was pretty disappointing in my opinion but....
I have this weird feeling like LA is going to take Stutzle leaving the door open for us to grab Byfield.
Both him and Byfield are going to be great draft picks.
Drysdale I think is the way to go for the other pick. That could give Ottawa one of the best D core's in the NHL in the next 3-4 years if they develop well.
Rossi would be a nice pick up too.
I'm curious if there is anyway to make some trades to move up in the draft to be able to get Byfield (or Stutzle) at #3, Drysdale at #5 and somehow get Rossi as well.
With the players we already have and those three, Ottawa would be in great shape moving forward. |

I know many here are against selecting a D, but I wonder if the isles pick winds up top 15 if the sens would lean towards drysdale at 5 knowing they could get a potentially elite forward like Quinn, Jarvis or Zary with the later pick

I’m pretty surprised to be honest, I went with the pageau trade myself as someone already said it looked like robbery from the start where the Karlsson trade was widely panned by fans and media alike when it was made. Took an incredible amount of luck for every piece to wind up the way it did. |

The idea that you have to compare results of a deal based on the immediate return is nutz. By this standard Ottawa won the trade with Colorado for Duchene. Calgary got fleeced when they gave up Joe Nieuendyk for a prospect.
Teams that are going for "it" trade prospects and/or picks for accomplished players. Rebuild teams trade players for picks and/or prospects. How can anybody say you have to measure the result on the day of deal. Would not some of you making investment decisions on the stock market. |

if you draft Byfield it would be completely redundant and pointless to draft rossi…...would much prefer to take Raymond or Drysdale.
if you get stutzle at 3 (who's likely a LW in the NHL instead of a C) then it makes sense to take Byfield

I would prefer they take 2 elite forwards at 3 and 5, and then "reach" on someone like Barron with the isles pick |

Conversely, basing it solely off end results can be equally narrow sighted.
If so, the Alex Auld trade would be the best trade in Sens history, since it yielded Mark Stone. (a 6th round pick at the time) |

I don't discount the luck factor.
However, when a team is clearly trading for futures, you have to allow some time to assess the value of the future asset.
