That's a problem. To me the problem is we only have two parties and most of us don't fit so neatly into a box where either really represents the majority of us.

A lot of people seem to identify with one side or the other so heavily where it's like rooting for your favorite sports team and whatever your team espouses is right...JMO.

I thought about things a little more and maybe I was a bit too rigid in my insistence that rules should be followed. So in my desire to not be a permanent pain in the ass hall monitor, I thought I should bend a little and contribute some quasi-controversial non-hockey talk ... but what? After several ideas that I thought would go too far, I decided on a poem by Robert Frost which is a call to take the path less traveled - choose individualism over following the crowd. It wasn't necessarily controversial when Frost wrote it, but I'm not sure it wouldn't be considered so today.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:

I would if I thought Tyler was serious about holding people responsible for breaking the rules, but so far he has shown he will not hold people responsible for inappropriate comments. His gentle "knock it off" rebukes have proven to be ineffective and at this point the conclusion I draw is that he is either unwilling or unable to hold people to account - OR - I'm wrong for thinking "political commentary is inappropriate" actually means "political commentary is inappropriate" - silly me. Maybe there is something in the bylaws of hockeybuzz that sets that rule but it is up to the blogger of each individual site to choose whether or not to enforce it - I don't know. But I do know that the rule isn't being enforced and I'm in the minority (by far) of posters who seem to care. At some point I will reluctantly realize this place isn't for me and possibly that will make the place better for those who don't concern themselves with following rules.

I asked another poster to reconsider his decision to leave until after the November election and stated that when those who follow the rules quit the game, then those who don't follow the rules win. That maxim presupposes that the moderator and majority of posters want the rules to be followed. Maybe that was my mistake.

Thank you for posting this. It's annoying having to scroll through these political messages when it's explicitly against the rules. It seems that Tyler is too much of a wussy to enforce them.

Delete the posts and ban the poster for a few hours to give them some time to cool down. It's not the difficult, although you'd think grown-ass adults could have enough self control not to post in the first place.
