so buffalo sends this year's 1st (8th-overall,) Casey Mittelstadt and a 2nd (preferably 2021) to TBL for Cirelli and TBL 2021 1st?

i'd do it and it certainly gives Tampa a lot to think about

- Michael Pachla

Tampa has no interest in trading it's most valuable players.

But you can have Gourde, Palat, Johnson or Killorn if you want.

I'd probably do that deal if I knew a little more about Cirelli. He looks like a riser now but projecting his ceiling should be taken into account before we give away a top, less than a million talent for three years, considering our awesome cap situation

I have now red the basis. I stand by my statement. NTCs are just a road block. They may not waive for Buffalo, but they'll waive when their team no longer wants them, for someone.

Every thing I have read and listened too indicates they want an 82 game schedule and will compact it quite a bit as well as extend the timeframe for playoffs into summer... then begin moving back to a more normal schedule over the following season of two.

It's ALL about Revenue. Look for modifications to allowed attendance levels, requiring masks, and face shields, and sign Liability Waivors.
Would help if they blasted high levels of UV light at intermission and served beer with a couple ounces of bleach, and put some Hydroxyclorquine / Zinc in as well....maybe call it Making Hockey White Again!

I read something about the nhl trying to start later in general. Avoid competing with the nfl somewhat.

Early games are hard to sell in general. Christmas season usually kicked off ticket sales.

cirelli should be their No. 1 priority, imo...

TBL has eight players with nmc/ntc totaling about a $44.5M cap-hit...add in Kucherov, who's performance is nmc/ntc-worthy from a team standpoint, and another $9.5M committed to an immovable Vasilevski contract and we're talking $63.5M invested in 10 contracts leaving $18M to sign 13 players including cirelli and sergachev...

What would it cost to get him and sign him?

*shrugs*

At least a 1st and a 3rd, or playerprospect equivalents, which would represent an offer sheet of $4.2-$6.3M...or if they go premium offer, a 1st, 2nd and 3rd, or player/prospect equivalents, which represents a $6.3M+ offersheet

- Michael Pachla

I have to believe that futures will be all Tampa would take back.
I would have to believe that Cirelli will get a bridge deal around $6m-sh...something less than Point's deal.
If I'm Tampa, I'm demanding Cozens and holding strong...but, eventually back down to something like 2020-1st and Mitts.

You try for A (Cirelli), settle on B (the above mentioned) and if they say, well tough titties, move onto the next team.

I think the deal would include Sam and Mitts and we would have to take on longer term contract like Johnson or Gourde. According to CapFriendly, only NMC’s are Stamkos, Kucherov and Hedman.

Can't disagree at all.
Yet, is there another side to this story?

With Skinner walking, the bad press generated yields NO desireable UFA signing here without significant over payments, chewing into the savings. Jason Zucker doesn't waive his M-NTC to come to Buffalo. The disaster Botterill can't swing more deals than his ineffective self did without the league wide bad press for the Sabres. Hutton is still given the opportunity, and I doubt his vision issues would have delayed an appearance until the offseason.

To cap it all of, rather than rumors of Jack telling Kerry and Tim to fix it or trade me, he simply demands for a trade without his version of the "1 year prove it or else" deal.

It certainly could have been much, much worse.

As nearly every poster has said going into the contract negotiations, he was going to be overpaid...mitigating the long-term impact by requiring a shorter term was key.

- IonSabres

The Sabres were in a no win situation, especially after the ROR fiasco

Trading Skinner would have been giving up on teh season (Though im sure teh return would have been great)

Letting Skinner walk would have shown 0 commitment to winning

Everyone knew signing skinner would result in an overpay.

I thought hed get 7.5-8 but at this point its 9. Ill never be happy with it, because i don't beleive Skinner is worth that.

personally i think his contract will be worse than Okposos.

I don't get the love for Cirelli, what has he done to garner that much. I think Cozens could be better than him right know.

they're all wingers, not sure the sabres would/should do that...

can/would another team offer up a top-10 pick (plus more) in a top-heavy 2020 draft?

Well if they go after Cirelli then I hope they do there do diligence, cause you guys are willing to give up a lot to get him, especially in a good draft year.

so no-trade clauses don't count?...

and i missed brayden point who they're not trading and adds another $6.75M to a core that is already taking up a colossal portion of a $81.5M cap ceiling

That was Botterill's target all along, has been for over a year now. They are getting a lot of calls on Montour, some on Miller and a couple for Casey. A couple teams want Pekar in a deal.

Yeah I heard a few of those names especially Pekar's, don't get me wrong on Cirelli and heard his name brought up before, he's a good player, just seems the 8th is a lot to pay.

If you haven't seen the McAfee show for this year's draft with "Mel Kiper" it's well worth your time.
