No, i did say if you have a problem with social distancing, then please go add to the death count.

When I just lost my best friend to Covid, and someone is going female dog that they have to do something for the greater good, damn straight i have no problem with you adding to that number.

18 year old kids go fight wars and sacrifice their lives for this country, yet some people can't be bothered to social distance or wear a mask for a few months because it "infringes upon their rights". They throw tantrums like 12 year old little girls if they're asked to wear a mask in a grocery store for an hour.

It's (frank)ing childish, selfish and yeah, they deserve to get the virus. And that starts at the top with terrible, self-centered leadership.

I believe DeMelo should be that target for your RD for know, I believe Joker and Dahlin will be your top pair, just need to give Joker atleast 1 season as your 2nd pair RD. And the more I look and read, with what could be available Cozens might actually be are best option to start a 2C and let him just grow, people aren't gonna like that but he's not the 6th ranked prospect in hockey for nothing.
- Buff36

Absolutely agree on DeMelo. Should be a low cost solid D-man. I believe we also agree on the addition of Mikael Granlund for the second line to benefit Skinner in particular. What are your thoughts on Patrick Maroon for the 4th line? His stats look pretty good, but I confess I really do not know his style of play.

Who knows what Adam's has as his vision, I don't think he has expressed it yet...it is still very early.

I am encouraged by his advocacy of Advanced Stats being more impactful in decisions/evaluations; and for the pursuit of Dudley even in a consultancy role. Those are two very positive steps forward IMO. If he announces additional resources who are strong in the Analytics arena then I see him backing up his statements with supporting actions.

Their first priority IMO as far as the roster goes is to bring in a bonafide 2C to shield Cozens for 2 years. Their second should be to rationalize the Defense, specifically identifying who the one RhD is to retain in addition to Joker from Risto, Montour, and Miller...then to pursue trades for the other two. For me, hands down it is Miller on the 3rd Pair while Joker assumes the 2nd Pairing role; which leaves Risto and Montour as trade bait to help fortify the F ranks. And YES, I too hope they continue to target Tuch and Anderson...two big, fast wingers who have proven scoring ability.

The work is still not done though, still need a suitable partner for Dahlin and Joker or Miller depending on where McCabe fits as 2nd or 3rd pairing. And they may need to restock portions of the Bottom six if all the UFA's are allowed to walk.

I would retain Hutton for his last year, if and only if his vision issue is completely resolved. If he can return to a .910 save percentage he would be a solid enough backup for 1 season.

- IonSabres

But are they gonna use analytics CORRECTLY?
For example:
-a bunch of posters here claiming ROR wasn’t that good & could be “EASILY REPLACED”

We all know how that worked out

All good, could use some too tbh.

I've been wanting to do a build for a while now, been waiting on details from the cba so know what to explore. For example, I think the new rule on 35+ contracts can be advantageous for the Sabres.

Only thing is, the actual off-season being so far away we lack the concrete (or even flimsy) rumours that help us select realistic targets.

Truth is it's hard to pin point. Before the shut down I was told Monahan is likely on his way out. Now Im told none of the deals make sense and they may just hang on to him.

I think most armchair gm lineups are in limbo because well...the actual teams are too.
- Michael Ghofrani

Ummmm....
What 35+ guys do u want us to go after?
And why would they sign here unless they have no other offers?
And if they’ve got no other offers,
how much could they really help?

Also...
where were u hearing Monahan was on the move?
I understand ppl here wanting him,
but Calgary doesn’t have a replacement for him.
So that was never anything but a long shot

here's a guy i came across while looking for an ufa d-partner for dahlin:

jan rutta

he has played alongside hedman for almost 2/3 of his toi and the two have clicked because of rutta's ability to adapt to the way hedman plays...underlying numbers are real solid and he's in the final year of his a contract that pays him $1.3m...

yeah, the sabres would need to overpay, but he might be worth it

Have you all seen this list of player salaries from 1990? Sean Burke found this in his files. Have a look. No cap era and Gretzky was only making 1.7 mil??? Lemiux made $2 mil and eventually ended up with team ownership due to deferred salary?

What’s hilarious is that there are no sabres being paid over a million and Pierre turgeoj was making $150000 for his entry level contest I would assume.

Are u talking just about the free agents for this year, or the whole group?

For this year...
I’d bring back Larsson & Girgs, as long as they were decent contracts

Rumor is they have no interest in bringing back any of their own UFA's except Larsson, and they don't believe he wants to return to Buffalo.

From the Calgary front office to the fans, they are tired of Monahan's one way play and lack of commitment to the defensive side of the ice. They are ready to move on, but I have no idea on the return they'd ask for.
