I warned people back from 2008- 2016 trying to build around the Twins was a huge mistake and here we are today with only two more years left of Loui.

Hopefully this flattening of the cap will control some of these stupid salaries. I hated paying Boeser 5.85 I thought he was in the 4.5-5 range and Contracts over 10 mil are crazy. I think contracts over 8 mil are crazy but that is just me.

8-10 mil contracts are dangerous. Look at how many teams are trying to get out from them . Skinner Subban Price Bobrosky Benn Kopitar Duchene Toews .

the season was not going in the right direction when it got halted. frankie is a slimy dude. he's known to say one thing and stab people in the back (just stories i've been told so take with a grain of salt.) so him praising jb doesn't mean much to me especially if the results aren't there.

had the team finished out of the playoffs this year, he would have been on thin ice next season.

with the world in confusion right now, i think he's safe for the foreseeable future. let's remember that he's one of lower paid gm's in the league and frankie is already paying enough money to people not working/playing for the team.

so, we're back to where we started: benning will make the canucks a playoff contender but not a cup contender by virtue of him not knowing how to work the cap and/or veteran salaries.

I hearya but I single out those that never won a cup. All of those hamstrung teams to compete at their fullest. We are not in that situation but need to avoid it from becoming a problem. Other than Kopitar & Toews all of those were horrible deals.

Those 2 cost under 10m in total not quite as comparable to 10m or more on a single player that to date hasn’t taken any team to a cup win post signing. Still doesn’t justify JB’s signings.

Get out from under those vet contracts & the cap almost heals itself. Easy to say but huge to achieve. Some pain to come.
