Vegas is in phase 2 until the end of July. Edmonton and Toronto seem to be better choices.

Toronto ... No way... it's totally out of the way and has no hockey infrastructure... How is this even possible??

So dumb... Everyone on the planet knew it was gonna be Leaf land... And just for the icing on the cake.. Lose to Cbus and wait for it.. Get AL... Book it.

Would it be possible that the semis or finals be relocated as conditions permit?

The NBA and MLB are seeing more players opt out as cases start to rise. It wouldn't surprise me if these never really get off the ground. Everyone might as well get used to no sports until next year.

Vegas is still a bad idea so I'm sure they'll do it.

But are NBA/MLB salaries tied to revenue?

The NHL needs to get some revenue coming in. 50 cents of every dollar goes to players. If they don't play, they lose millions.

Ok...still doesn't change the point that if they can't provide a safe environment, they'll have to shut it down. And it wouldn't be surprising to see players opt out if the numbers start going up. At some point health is more important than money. At least I would hope it would be.

Anaheim, Carolina, San Jose, Minnesota, Nashville, Calgary and Vancouver have never picked 1st overall.

Vancouver has been in since 1970, Calgary since 1972 and Carolina since 1979. All longer times without a 1st overall than the Habs.

- BINGO!

Save me the pity on Carolina, they've been moved up into the Top 3 more than you can shake a stick at, seems like they have a top 10 pick every year. Imagine that! Same with Anaheim. US expansion team favouritism there ie. LA Kings another great example of that this year

Calgary and Vancouver have an actual bone to pick but that's not surprising they haven't either because they're Canadian teams. Canadian teams are still at a huge disadvantage from acquiring high end talent because we are severely over taxed no one in their right mind would play in Canada just so you can give 80% of your salary to a corrupt government. The league has done nothing to offset that

I can't feel sorry for a fan of an expansion team when the league panders to them the most

Canadian government corrupt? I was told that yawl have a utopian society! All these liberals in the US promised to move north when Trump won in 2016! Of coarse they did not, there apparently was no draft to avoid. I 'spouse your taxes scared them from going uo there.
Seriously I see your point about players wishing to locate in a more tax freindly place, such as Florida and some of the other southern states that have lower taxes. And the NHLPA wishing to lower the escrow greatly........ We all like to keep more of the money we earn.

Carolina had top 3 picks in
1983 - Sylvain Turgeon
1993 - Chris Pronger
2003 - Eric Staal
2005 - Jack Johnson
2018 - Andrei Svechnikov

the difference in the tax rate between Calgary and Carolina is 2.31%, which on, say, Mikael Backlund's contract, adds up to about $135k in savings. Significant, but probably not enough to make much difference.

There actually was a record number of Americans who went to Canada in 2016 and the number have remained high every year since.... Obviously not all 'liberals' are going because that would be over 50% of the country that didn't vote for Trump.

Math and facts. Just saying.

(frank), they're super corrupt but the thing in Canada is Canadian liberals turn a blind eye to it and just ramble on about Trump. You know how smug these people are. It's a way to avoid addressing issues at home and holding one of their own accountable. All the media outlets in Canada are super hardcore lefty too so you can just imagine every outlet being CNN on steroids. There's a reason Trudeau won again and majority vote liberal. They've been indoctrinated in the schools and then brainwashed everyday by their media outlets. They are good, obedient sheep

Canada is screwed, the commies have a bigger foothold in Canada than they do in the US

It's certainly not a utopia, it's a socialist hell hole. Rampant homelessness, no one can afford to buy a house, raise a family, crazy taxes that are only going to go up. Now of course that's all done by design

Trust...their agenda here is the exact same as the one you guys are seeing unfold in the US and if Biden wins. RIP

Alberta is the one province that you can exempt from this. And you wonder why the liberals hate Albertans so much?

If they really cared about player safety, neither toronto nor vegas would be an option. The mayor of vegas didnt even require masks. people flying in from all over the place every day. I guess bettman is totally sure not 1 player will sneak out over the course of 2+ months to play a hand of cards while they are isolated from their families. what is the ice like in vegas in july/august? is it difficult to maintain?

why not vancouver or edmonton and winnipeg? winnipeg is in central time zone.

The never ceasing lying mainstream media has blown the COVID death stats WAY out of proportion, labelling deaths by other causes like old age and accidents as COVID related. Bill Gates just HAPPENS to have a "miracle" vaccine for 7 billion people. Gates is NOT A DOCTOR. Fear is the best way for the few to control the masses. Drop the herd mentality and turn off the lying msm. Small business and beaches had to stay closed to stop the alleged spread while apparently supermarkets and big corporate liquor stores could remain open. It doesn't make ANY sense. Total double standard. Why trust chronic lying mainstream media and chronic lying politicians? They are corporate puppets.

Thanks for the enlightening perspective.

I have been to Canada many times, but only as a tourist, and one can't really tell that way.

Here is a polite question for you.

Is spectacular mouth-breathing mega-stupidity like the kind of stuff you write here as represented in the Canadian population as it is in the US?

I know there are people like you everywhere, I am just wondering about the proportions.

You really are an idiot, please move on down to the U.S. or Mexico.

16 years of the CRAP (Christian Reform Alliance Party) lead by Harper absolutely ruined this country, and you complain like all those Albertan rednecks that the CRAP d!ckwad leader couldn't maintain control for another 4 and throw the country further into despair.

Any party is better than the CRAP party including the NDP, Greens, I hope your CRAP party dissolves into obscurity and idiots like you continue to cry and whine about the vast majority of Canadians want nothing to do with you stinking pile of CRAP.
