Seems like the Flyers sold Racine at the right time, right after he put up a career high in points. Always like Haller and Svoboda, just good, solid defensemen.

Today in Flyers History: On June 29, 1994, the Flyers acquired defenseman Kevin Haller from the Montreal Canadiens in a one-for-one trade in exchange for defenseman Yves Racine.

First thing that comes to mind with Haller is his OT game-winner against NYR in the second round of the playoffs in 1995. The Flyers won two straight OT games that series with goals by defensemen. That was a thoroughly enjoyable series.

Didn't the Sign Man have one that said "Stand Up and Haller" ?

Think what will eventually get Brindy over the hump is coaching success. He was a fantastic player, but seems to have an even brighter future behind the bench.

By the current standards, absolutely. I think there are lot of guys in it though that don’t belong. To me the HOF should be reserved for players who during their prime routinely:

Finished in the top 5 for the Hart, Norris or Vezina or guys that won multiple Smythe trophies.

To me, the only guys who spent all or much of their career as Flyers that deserve to be in are Clarke, Parent & Howe. Barber & Lindros would be close. Again, not saying they all don’t deserve to be in under the current standards, rather that the standards should be much higher.

If he is being inducted as a player, his coaching success shouldn't be a factor.

Do any of us really know what the exact HOF criteria is? It seems pretty ad hoc.

Voters seem to have their favorites. For example, if Cam Neely is in, then Tim Kerr should be as well. Their stats are very similar. There is little logic to it.

Absolutely. I don't think Lowe should be in. Nice player on a great team but individually not a HOF player in my opinion.

I'm still trying to fathom how Carbonneau and Kevin Lowe make it, but Alexander Mogilny and Roenick have not. If were talking former Flyers, Propp and LeClair absolutely deserve strong consideration.

Now that Vorobyev is walking it gives the Flyers another available contract to play with. But for some reason I have a feeling that another team has been in his ear throughout this process. Maybe via Granato. I wonder if Bill has a guess of where he lands.

Carbonneau won 3 Selke trophies and finished in the top 5 in voting 9 times. Including 2 second place finishes. He was an elite defensive forward who contributed offense at a respectable pace. 260 goals and 403 assists.

How close to a hart trophy have Roenick or Leclair come, just curious.

That's fine, but by those same metrics, Jere Lehtinen (264 goals, 514 pts during the height of the trap era) with 3 Selke awards should get a nod also. I'm fine with that if it's universally understood what the new standard is, but I'm still not sure how he get's in before someone like Mogilny.

Looked it up..Roenick had a 5th place vote in 91-92 and 10th place 2 years later during his string of 100 point seasons with Chicago. LeClair finished 15th in 96, 6th in 97 and 7th in 98.

Brian Burke's a current HOF committee member. I wonder how he feels about Kevin Lowe getting in.

I was pretty surprised Mogilny didn't get it. Guy was an incredible talent. Defecting from USSR to boot.

I agree with the others. Roenick should be in as well.
