You can't spell Tom Barrasso with out a$$ and I have to think that's the only reason he's not in the HOF.
1 Calder
1 Vezina
2 Stanley Cups
That's as impressive of a career as you can have as a goalie. He's clearly pissed off the wrong people. |

While playing for Toronto, he was informed prior to a game he would be the backup.
He refused to sit on the bench.
Edit: he appears he did the exact same thing earlier in Pittsburgh, refusing to back up Aubin.
Strange.
Hilarious, but strange. |

Yohe wrote about expansion projections for the Pens today, but I thought this part would interest the board:
Analysis — The Penguins love Joseph and have him projected as their No. 3 defensemen on the left side within a year, where he’ll play behind Dumoulin and Pettersson. One would imagine Jack Johnson will be a candidate for a trade or a buyout by the summer of 2021.
I've said before, I think JJ/Joseph plays out similar to Gudbranson/Marino: when Joseph is ready, they'll make space for him at JJ's expense. |

Crosby couldnt win Cups with Hall of Famers like Hossa and Iginla on his wing, but could win Cups with guys like Kunitz, Guerin, Hornqvist, etc. Obviously the Penguins's failures from 2010-2015 have a lot of different explanations, but still funny to think about.
Bylsma should be laughed out of Pittsburgh after that 2012 dumpster fire. He really should have been laughed out of Pittsburgh when he put a future Hall of Fame RWer on the LW to appease his young punk RWer. Its a shame we couldnt hold onto to Iginla and take another stab or two at the Cup with him. Great guy who deserved to raise a Cup in his career.
Hossa was probably my favorite all time Sid winger just based on his unique game and talent. He was a lot of fun to watch. I'm glad he ended up finding his place in Chicago. Hope he is doing well from that strange-disease-that-happened-to-hit-as-his-team-was-struggling-with-the-cap-and-could-take-his-cap-off-of-the-books. |

He was apparently asked to put on a lot of muscle last offseason and he did it. I think he lost a lot of it when he was sick, but clearly he can bulk up again.
Penguins need some defensive prospects to work out, especially with Addison traded.

Man, you land locked, no ocean in sight Albertans are dry and stiff, not an accurate representation of Canadian humour. We're much more easy going and loose on the east coast.
I was actually born in Alberta but identify as a Newfoundlander haha.
I chuckled when I read the title of this blog.
Was I ever f'n excited when the Pens traded for Iggy haha. It's too bad Sid was injured in Iggy's first or second game as a Pen... Orpik clapper deflected into his face. They basically only had the playoffs together. In saying that, even if they had alot more play time together and more time to gel.... They still would of faced Super Rask in the 3rd round... |

I remember that night very vividly. I’m a procrastinator that works up against deadlines and I was a sophomore in college with a paper due the next day that I hadn’t started, so I was preparing myself to stay up through the wee hours doing what I should have spread out across an entire week in one night. That trade went through out of nowhere at like 1am after it was reported that Iggy to the Bs was a done deal earlier that day. I don’t think I started my paper until like 4 am I was so excited. |

Hahaha yeah it wen't down super late for a trade. It was like 2:30 am here and my phone started ringing non stop from friends trying to call, or message, and tell me what had happened. Eventually the calls woke me and I tossed on TSN. Never went back to sleep that night.
Even memories like this, that have nothing to do with an actual game, goal, win or a championship, are special from the Sid and Geno era. |
