So Tanner lists a bunch of options but doesn't select anyone. Great work on this assignment. Also enjoy how Corsi has now taken a backseat to his new favourite - WAR. Pretty hilarious. Several readers explained for most of the year that Corsi was extremely flawed and most NHL teams don't even look at it anymore. But he kept going on about Corsi this, and Corsi that. Now he's quietly switched to WAR.

SO let me get this straight: You are trying to own me in a post that argues that I am an idiot for learning and using new and better information?
Have at it. I just hope that you don't find out that I was once a baby and couldn't even walk or talk.

I never said you were an idiot. Just find it quite funny that this was the term you used towards me and many others who questioned your constant reliance on Corsi. Now you quietly have let Corsi go to focus on the next shiny toy. But did you apologize to all of the people whom you called an idiot? Course not. Do you see a pattern yet?
1) You say Domi for Galchenyuk was a great trade.
2) Readers try to explain why your take is awful.
3) You call readers idiots.
4) Eventually you realize how wrong you are and just quietly change your position.
Happened with Domi.
Schmaltz is a 85-point player.
Keller is a 90-point player.
Dvorak is on a great contract.
Goligoski is a great defensemen.
Demers is a great defensemen.
Franson. Gormley. Petan.

Why did you use Corsi? You THOUGHT it was good information, just jumping on the new trend doesn’t make you insightful or knowledgeable, you just look like a blind idiot. Hence all your misjudged predictions/analysis.

I still use Corsi all the time. It's a great stat. Think of it this way, last decade, we only had points and plus minus to judge a player. Then we got Corsi, which I don't think I've used exclusively for three or four years now. Maybe longer.
Naturalstattrick gives us shot attemps, shots, scoring chances, dangerous scoring chances , and expected goals. I've been using a my face and head to amalgamate these ratings along with other information (video, reputation) into my evaluations for years.
If you recently woke up from a coma you were put in in 2017, I can see where you are coming from, I guess.
But if I ever called you an idiot (and I don't remember talking to you before a few weeks ago) it probably had to do with an obese gritty impersonator and not your views on Corsi.
1) You say Domi for Galchenyuk was a great trade.
At the time it was a great trade in my opinion. It worked out terribly, but Kessel is one of my favorite players and I don't eve like Domi, so I don't even regret the trade.
I was wrong to think the Coyotes had crushed it though. And certainly I didn't use Corsi by itself to decide anything.
2) Readers try to explain why your take is awful.
Most of the ones who do a good job of this contact me on Twitter or DM me. Can't for the life of me figure out why that would be.
3) You call readers idiots.

I'm not too quiet about anything. I sing all day and I scream most of the things I say. It is even said I stomp around the house like a maniac.
Happened with Domi.
Schmaltz is a 85-point player. I definitely over-exaggerated, but recent stats for him are pretty awesome.
Keller is a 90-point player. Still think he can be. 22. Has sick skill. Won't shoot 4% forever.
Dvorak is on a great contract. I thought this, then changed my mind, then changed it back again. I am now on team Dvorak due to new information.
Goligoski is a great defensemen. He was a replacement player this year, but was worth 1 win in each of the last two years. That's top 4 material. I don't know that I ever called him great. Demers is a great defensemen. Was worth a win and a half two years ago. Replacement level now but he's 32. He was once very underrated.
Franson. I maintain he's an effective top pairing NHL defenseman in his prime. You won't find one person who is even open to the idea of analytics that will tell you differently.
Gormley. Damn son, did I overrate my team's top prospect back in 2013? Well I am a pretty big dbag sometimes so I guess you can throw this horrendous take in my face and won't even point out that if that's the best you got.........well I've said too much.
Petan. Nic Petan is an above average NHL 4th liner and players with his AHL stats tend to be decent second line players. I still like him.

Haha. Last decade we only had points and plus minus to judge a player? Really. Here is another one...watch the games, understand the sport. That helps. Way more than Corsi and WAR or whatever other shiny toy you have latched onto. I didn't need advanced stats to tell me that Domi was way, way, better than Galchenyuk. Simply because I've seen each guy play 100+ times. Eye test alone made that easy. The eye test told me instantly that Keller was not a 90+ point player. Go ahead and blame his low-shooting percentage. It should improve. But his shot is weak and he often takes it from the perimeter. So you will be sadly disappointed to eventually discover his shooting percentage will never look great. You also blamed Kessel's poor production on luck. Again, watch the games. I did. And told you on the day of the trade that Kessel had lost his foot speed, preventing him from getting into dangerous areas to unleash his shot. Now he gets angled to the outside and floats weak shots from the perimeter. Of course his shooting percentage comes down, but that's because I watch thousands of games while you look at stats and spend your time watching movies. I could go on. But smart people already know exactly what I'm talking about. We'll let you go back to WAR and tell us about the 1.5 wins that Goligoski is responsible for. Sounds fascinating.
Biggest problem with analytics is that they very often confuse cause with effect and vice-versa, which makes the correlations and causalities they're trying to demonstrate all mixed up.
Then again, can't fault Tanner for watching more movies than hockey, better for the brain.
In all honesty, Galchenyuk was quietly becoming one of the more unsung players just before the shutdown... He and Rask were really starting to stand out.
But, if i had to say the MOST underrated player this season, I'd have to say Foligno.
