i'd say the deal with the rangers is the most realistic one in terms of value...……...but it will never happen. the Flames just went through a huge PR disaster with their coach over racist comments, the LAST thing the Flames would do was bring in a racist piece of poop like DeAngelo, no matter how good he is.

Last one with DeAngelo, from the CGY POV. The Rangers already have Panarin and Kreider on LW so don't know why the hell they'd want Gaudreau, but if they want to make that offer, then fine.

Calgary takes the deal where they get a 1st round pick back from the Islanders. Nobody wants to add salary at this time. Devils have 3 first rounders. But, not sure why Devils would want to do that deal. They have a great rebuild gong on and doing this kind of deal is premature. They need to focus on letting their kids develop.

To Buf: Gaudreau, Monahan, 2021 2nd

To Cal: Reinhart, Montour, Mittlestadt, 2020 1st, 2021 1st

This is by far the best deal for Calgary, but if the whole reason fantasy Gaudreau is getting traded is because they want to sign fantasy Hall, bringing in 3 dudes who are all due an immediate raise doesn't make much sense.

Any if the above except the Rangers deals with are, as always, a complete joke.

It's the best deal if the objective for the Flames is to remain competitive in the short-term. IMO, trading Gaudreau and Monahan should signal the start of a rebuild, so in that case, I don't have much interest in Reinhart or Montour.

Not sure why either side would do this trade. Is Calgary rebuilding? If so they don't need Montour and Reinhart, though they could then turn around and flip them too I suppose.

If they are trying to win, maybe they want something like a cap affordable roster player instead of picks?

From a Buffalo standpoint, 2020 first rounder is a top 10 pick, and Mittelstadt is an 8th overall. I can see them making a big move with those chips, but then they probably keep Reinhart and try to win.

Johnny Hockey for 2020 1st (lottery protected), 2021 1st, Jokiharju, and a forward prospect not named Cozens seems more cohesive.

I pray to God the Devils do not trade any of their picks and get involved in a bid for JG. Yes he is a great player, but I see a Greater Future for the Devils with the depth of talent they are amassing. With the way Blackwood is maturing - I think the Devs will be an elite team in a short amount of time.

Obviously I’m gonna side with my own lol. I Can’t see Calgary moving Monahan AND Gaudreau in the same deal. Also, I think Gaudreau playing with Panarin would be super fun to watch.

It's contingent on the Flames signing Hall. If the Flames have Hall and Reinhart locked up longterm, it's not a major downgrade on the top line. There's a chance everything clicks, and they're actually better. Plus they get a NHL calibre defenceman, which the Flames barely have six right now and are losing at least one of them. Plus they get a forward prospect who might be alright, another area where they're severely lacking. Plus they get a top ten pick this year and another top ten pick next year if the Sabres don't get a goalie.

Of course, this is all fantasy make-believe. What's actually going to happen is the Flames will lock up Gaudreau for way too much money.

So your readers come up with a bunch of fantasy trades. And now you want the readers to pick the best one? Well I guess that's an easy post. Some of these proposals are so far-fetched, yet you state these are the ones most likely to be offered?

For example, NYR has Panarin as a 1W. Then they decided to lock-up Kreider as a 2W. So why exactly would they trade DeAngelo, Georgiev, and a 1st for another top 6 LW in Gaudreau? Why didn't they just let Kreider go if Gaudreau is the answer? So you give up all those assets for a player that:

1) Doesn't fill a need
2) Would likely just walk in 2 years leaving you with nothing. Oh wait, for some random the reason the proposal also has a 5th round pick going to NYR. That changes things.

I dunno. Maybe a bit more analysis to weed out the trades that make zero sense. But sure, if I'm Calgary and NYR offers me this then I laugh all day long.

I obviously like my suggestion the best. I don’t think the Flames need to blow up the roster entirely SO they should not include solid young roster players Like Monahan or Hanifin. That’s foolhardy.

I also don’t think it’s wise for other teams to trade high picks and top prospects for 2 years of JG.

Back to my suggestion:
Getting another first round pick plus 2 solid prospects fills some organizational needs. It also opens up cap space to sign Hall. Adding Reimer or Mrazek (hopefully fit the Flames it’s Mrazek) gives the Flames support for Rittich.
Gaudreau gives the Canes a boost to their top six F. Opens up a goaltending spot for them to pursue one if the UFA G’s. IE Lehner or Holtby.

Both teams win!!!

Flames will likely never trade Monahan. He’s their only legit top line C.

What about reporting on a REAL HOCKEY story. Never mind I’ll just go ahead and say it.
Numerous Tampa Bay players and staff have tested positive for COVID-19 . As a result they have shut their facility until further notice while they await other tests results.

Reinhart and Lindholm are both centres. A Hall-Reinhart-Lindholm line has the potential to be just as good as a Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm line.

Was the flyers trade proposed by a Flames fan?

Why not give them Hart, Provorov, and Couturier too. They are both equally ridiculous.

Lets not forget if you trade for a first or multiple firsts you can still trade those firsts for other players its all about asset management. Flames are not rebuilding...IF they trade Gaudreau its because they think they can improve the team. There is nothing forcing Calgary to trade Gaudreau now unless its a home run deal in their eyes.

IE sign Hall plus a home run deal for Gaudreau surely makes them a better team. Calgary played over .600 hockey since firing the racist in November...I think their demise is greatly exaggerated.

A lot also depends on these playoffs if they actually happen

No, Reinhart is a RW for the past 5 seasons save about 15 games a couple years ago.

Fair enough but I doubt the Flames trade Monahan. Plus they’d have to sign Reinhart. I’m certain Monahan stays in Calgary long term. It would however be solid return. A top ten pick this year would yield a top F prospect. Next years pick from Buffalo would be in the first half of the draft almost for sure. Middlestadt is a project player but could be an effective C. I love Montour. I think he’s underrated.

IF the Flames flounder in the playoffs- especially in the play in round- then maybe they blow things up and do this.
