Bad look for the kid. Especially after the gold medal thingy.

That simple invite decline just dropped his value even further.

That really blows. I really thought we would see him become a depth player for us. Quite the storied history for top selections for our Blueshirts. 🤔

Good riddance!

This is a young team on the rise that doesn't need the distraction his immaturity presents. I would expect him to be a piece of a future trade just to get rid of him. Perhaps Smith and Andersson to the Senators at the draft for their lowest 2nd round pick?

Hey Blueshirt fans Brendan Smith makes 4.35 million.
You're going to have to attach more to him than Lias Anderson to get a 2nd round pick back!

It’s why I never felt bad about trashing the kid. He better learn how to skate or he might as well just stay in Sweeden forever

Best thing that could have happened for the Rangers.

Say goodbye to this guy once and for all.

The Team does not need his negative drama.

If Quinn is the issue, then time will tell and will need to be addressed. But remeber Chytil and Fox played excellent this year, so Coach Quinn should get some credit motivating those young players.

Andersson was a very poor Draft Pick selection for Gorton. This kid showed us all what type of person he was by throwing away his Silver Medal. Why the Rangers drafted him, I'll never know.

Vilardi, Necas and Robert Thomas, (all Centers) were all selected after Andersson in the 1st Round of the 2017 Draft. Any one of them would have been a much better choice.

A blemish on Gorton's fine resume as Rangers GM so far.

An absolute home run, Vin.
I tried to be positive and hope a 7th overall pick would turn into SOMETHING. But, the way it has played out is undeniable. A complete miss. Too bad.
That being said, I (frank)ing love our team right now and am excited about adding the next wave over the next couple seasons!!!!

I was like you Tony, always hoping for the positive with Andersson. Now he can go (frank) right off. If he does have a mental illness, I wish him the best in getting himself fixed, but the next time I hear his name it better be for a trade.

Quite possibly right. But, it wouldn't matter if it were a 6th round pick, really. We'd be dropping a bad contract and a useless "asset."
Smitty might not be done yet, though. He was doing all that was asked of him of late. I'm curious to watch his play in the Cup Qualifier. So, my friend here may have chosen him too casually as a trade.
Enjoy the playof... oh, nevermind.

Your number is wrong!
His cap hit = $4.35 mill --- that is correct.
However, his salary ( which is what Ottawa's cheapo owner would pay ) = $3.35 mil. Part of that includes a $1 mill signing bonus. If Rangers pay the bonus, Sens only pay $2.35 mill. This makes him attractive to teams who might need help to reach the cap floor.

The leafs coughed up a 1st to get rid of 1 year of Marleau last year so still fair to say your not getting a 2nd back thats all.

and we got a 3rd back for Vesey, so I don't think I'm all that crazy!
Don't compare us to the Leafs either --- we are a much better run organization the past few years!

What we thought was competitive spirit turned out to be immaturity. Sucks, but time to move on.

And yes Tony, you are all of those things you described in the last thread.
