Granlund is alight but not worth the contract he would get

And he's more a playmaker not a finisher..(not saying its a bad thing)

If he came cheap 4.5m I would be OK with it

Depending on the contract, we need a playmaker to help Skinner.

We need help at center and Granlund helps with that under the right price.

If this team doesn't make the playoffs next year the fans are going to riot

Between the cap situation and the glut of D, I'd more readily consider moving a RD(Ristolainen or Montour, as part of a package if necessary) for a 2C.

The only contract I'm OK with is 4.5 for 3 years he hasn't improved from 2016 and is slowly decreasing since giving him 6-7m would be a mistake for a guy that his calling might just be 50 -60 points...

I would rather give that 6m to Strome who is only 23 and hasn't hit his calling yet

Trump needs to stop talking he just makes things worse...

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump
...We should be standing up straight and tall, ideally with a salute, or a hand on heart. There are other things you can protest, but not our Great American Flag - NO KNEELING!

And Drew Brees wins over his teammates and the NFL....

drewbrees To @realdonaldtrump
Through my ongoing conversations with friends, teammates, and leaders in the black community, I realize this is not an issue about the American flag. It has never been. We can no longer use the flag to turn people away or distract them from the real issues that face our black communities.
We did this back in 2017, and regretfully I brought it back with my comments this week. We must stop talking about the flag and shift our attention to the real issues of systemic racial injustice, economic oppression, police brutality, and judicial & prison reform.
We are at a critical juncture in our nation’s history! If not now, then when?

We as a white community need to listen and learn from the pain and suffering of our black communities. We must acknowledge the problems, identify the solutions, and then put this into action. The black community cannot do it alone. This will require all of us.

His best years were while he played Center for the Wild. He immediately fell off a cliff (points-wise) once he was traded to Nashville and converted to RW with less responsibility/ice time. I would think the Sabres could get a year or two out of him at Center, if needed, and allow Cozens and/or Mitts to further develop... then Granlund could always switch back to RW on the backend of his contract. I think at $4.5 million he would be a good fit as I think Krueger would work well with him and understanding his European style of play. Thank you for the data analysis.

I don't want to give a guy 6-7m when he's already 28 and has decreased since then .. We need guys that will make impacts he's just another Marcus Johansson when the capitals let him go

We still don’t know if we hit on last years pick.

Before you call it out I’ll remind you that mitts looked amazing at the wjc tourney after his draft year and looks bustishly sluggish now.

So if this years pick pans out 3 years from now we will be ok? I just begged to differ.

- TheHank

I'll remind you that every single player is different in terms of their progression rates.

How Mittelstadt has played and produces has no meaning as to how Cozens will play and produce next year.

Look at his production pre signing that contract.

I think he’s worth it now but not then. That’s an overpayment. Plain and simple.

Also, look at mcdavids production pre contract. You can see the difference.

58pts for ten million..... cmon.

- TheHank

It was 57 points, but it was also in only 61 games.

Overall, Eichel's contract was always about being a quality deal for the life of the deal, not what he was quote unquote worth at the time.

Would you rather have paid him $8.5M per for 2 years and be paying him $12M-$13M on an 8 year deal coming up?

Evolving Hockey has Granlund's predicted UFA deal (20% probability) with a different team to be 7 years for $6.525M per.

Right behind that predicted deal in terms of probability are deals of 4 years @ $5.784M per (19% probability) and 5 years @ $6.216M per (18% probability).

Do those predictions factor in a flat cap? I have no idea, but if those are close, it's a big pass on Granlund for me.

"Granlund is still a few years away from 30"

Yet you know he's 28, and he'll be 30 on 2/26/2022.

So he's got a bit under 2 years before he turns 30, not a few years.

General question: you talk frequently about buying wins. What does that mean, and what data are you using to determine what buying wins means?

Does 2 not count as a few? Assuming near full health (i know, its a stretch) looking at around 100 GP before he turns 30
