Carol Schram: The Canucks will take their time on opening Phase 2 voluntary workouts As the NHL prepares to move to Phase 2 of its Return to Play plan next week, the Vancouver Canucks won't be rushing to re-open Rogers Arena with just a handful of players in town. One of those players, Chris Tanev, is healthy and ready to get back on the ice and reunite with his young teammates.

I did read yesterday Tanev does want to play his career here . He also mentioned he knows there will probably be a salary cut.

Sounds like he really does like the kids on the team. Seeing him fight for the first time last year made me think of a parent protecting his kids.

I seen a Tweet yesterday that I fully agree with.

When the NHL resumes and has Fans , Dr Bonnie Henry should be honored and drop the first puck.

I bet the ovation would be huge.

I hope they bring him back.
Maybe a 2 year deal?
Where would you rank him in UFA re-signing importance?

i'd go:

Marky
Tofolli
Tanev
Leivo

Signing a one year deal works out well for both him and the team.
If he wants to finish his career in Vancouver, signing for one year protects him from the expansion, somewhat, similar to Edler.
I know some want change, but taking out 2 of your top 4 players, with no replacements, or capspace, the team is better off to bring in players from the farm, to fill out spots 5,6 and 7.
I would suggest Brisebois, Rafferty maybe Juolevi or someone like Sautner.

That is the proper way to go . I don't know if OJ is NHL material yet but we will find out. I think Sautner will sign somewhere else.

I think 1 year deal, followed by another 1 or 2. He wants to play here, the Canucks want to keep him, and he's valuable.

I'm guessing Marky will sign a 3-4 year deal as he wants security, and both TT and Tanev will sign 1 year deals with the market being down and wanting to cash in a little more dollars-wise next summer.

The beauty of the 1 year deal is everyone gets to reevaluate at season's end. In this case, the player probably isn't looking for security because of the pandemic and the ensuing economic uncertainty.

Exactly. However, for someone like Marky who only the past couple years has played at a high level, if he has a poop year or gets injured he doesn't have the same leverage as he does this year.

I think with all the lives she has saved the Province should honor her and all front line workers .

A park, name changed to all the people that worked endlessly. Bonnie Henry Front Liners Park.
