NY has the edge, unless Bob turns it on in the playoffs. I doubt this happens, but if he does, we could see some heart breaking shutouts as the Islanders prepare for Golf.

When one considers the stellar numbers put forth by Merzlikins and Korpisalo, one has to wonder how much of Bob’s success belongs to Torts and CBJs defensive system.

Florida certainly doesn’t play as tight a game. And Bob’s numbers reflect that.

Yep. I knew Florida was overpaying for an excellent goalie who played great behind a defensive team, which is a Tortorella specialty. I also think the Rangers overpaid for Panarin and may risk losing their biggest star, Mika.

On top of that Schwein Bob’s numbers overall are sub par in the PO.

Not sure they will lose Mika, as other contracts come off and possible cap going up after this stuff blows over and expansion plays in, they'll lose other players before Mika is gone, imo

True, but if Mika continues to drive games the way he is, he'll likely want an equal or better deal than Pan. I don't know if any team can afford 2 $11.6 million, guaranteed, buy-out proof, no trade, 7 year deals. It's the terms of Panarin's deal that scares me.

When it comes to experience. The Islanders definitely have the more experienced staff and tandem. However, those of you who know playoff hockey, knows anything can and does happen.

Team that can put it together quickly will succeed. Out of the following; Offense, Defense, Goaltending, PP; PK and Coaching. Florida has in Offense and PP.

I give the Isles 60 - 40 taking series. A lot will ride on Goaltending and Defense, if those falter for Isles, the Cats will be moving on.

This year I noticed more teams playing the Islanders the way the Hurricanes did in the playoffs, where Brind'amour did a brilliant job preparing his team to play the Islander style to perfection. Where Pittsburghs 'press forward and build on a lead' got them swept, the Hurricanes played defense until the Islanders made a mistake. I don't know if Florida can pull it off, but I see Quenneville moving them away from the 'shoot from anywhere' style they've been known for.
