Tyler Cameron: Blackhawks back in the rink on June 8th
As of June 8th, Phase 2 will kick in and the Blackhawks – along with the rest of the NHL - will be allowed back into their training facilities to work out and skate together in small groups of 6.
The thought of seeing highlights or updates of Blackhawks skating is a welcomed one.

Ditto on the "thanks" part. Also, I wonder if Elbows knows Zach Smith might be available and if so, how happy would that make him?

I was just thinking about the Hawks start of the 2013 season. This was the year of the work stoppage and once play began in January 2014 the Hawks went on a 20-0-3 tear to start the season. So that season started about 4 months late similar to the hiatus taking place now. If Hawks can replicate that 2014 start this summer they'll have the Cup wrapped up before you know it. LOL. |

I think there are a good number of the Hawks that are in the city still.
We'll find out pretty soon.
Another thing to watch is that if only 6 players at a time are allowed to workout, how will they be grouped?
A lot will have to do with availability, if they are in Chicago, etc. - but if I'm Colliton, I would set it up with the top 6 defence coming together, top 6 forwards (or potential lines), and bottom 6 and goalies bundled.
It may seem small, but to get back up to speed as quickly as possible, I would want to rekindle some chemistry ASAP if I was the coach.

Great point about the shortened season.
I will also have a blog coming up about Crawford as well. He already was one of their most important players if they Hawks are to have success, but think about his long layoffs from his concussion issues. He returned in top form and that could benefit the Hawks hugely if he draws from that experience. |

At Crow's age and experience level he should be able to get back into the swing of things rather quickly.
Fitness for the skaters is where I would be concerned.
Otherwise, I think we will be pleasantly surprised with how sharp these guys come back. |

Probably a lot of condiitioning to start out then as things progress go with possibly 3 forwards and 2 D plus an extra in order to practice zone breakouts, entries, etc. Maybe keep a group on ice for 30 or so minutes then bring on the next guys.

I appreciate what you had to share in the last post. Got something to share, share it even if it boils the blood of angry people. Keep up the good work

As I have many family members who are Haredi Orthodox Jews, I will just repeat the last paragraph of one of the organizations statements:
"So, it is at this very moment that we remember our Torah’s admonition that it is precisely by extending compassion, empathy, and understanding to the strangers, friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens in our midst – regardless of our racial or ethnic backgrounds – that we will be shepherded safely through these troubled times, and at all times. … Let us commit ourselves to that." |

Why is that the go-to response? That's not what BLM means & that's not what BLM is for. |

Unfortunate backlash ... like saying all blacks are dangerous and criminals
How does it feel ? Not so much fun. |

My response is honest, to me all lives matter, not trying to minimize one's hardship over another, or vice versa.
The fact of the matter is every single one of us has problems in our own lives. It's how i handle my problems which either allows me to grow or continue the same cycle in my life.

You want to know what actual institutional and systemic racism looks like today in the U.S.? It is the racism of low expectations. It is the (racist) assumption that black people need more help from the government to prosper than non-black people because of disproportionate privilege based on their race. It is a self-perpetuation prophecy that has resulted in generations of black people being stuffed into urban ghetto's with limited opportunities. Black people don't "Need" help from anyone to follow their dreams and make a life for themselves and their families anymore than people of other races do.
If institutional and systemic racism is ever to be completely eradicated it needs to start with the acknowledgement that government programs don't actually help the people they are supposed to help - they trap them into a life of dependence on the government. Black people, like people of all races, can thrive on their own without government "assistance" so long as the government does only what it is supposed to do - which is keep civil law and order and then get out of the way. |
