You said Hall is 29, injury prone and will age poorly. Why do the Coyotes HAVE to sign him? Plus, Hall is a UFA. He doesn't HAVE to sign with them. Are you saying the Coyotes are a "Win now" team? You just listed Hayton and Soderberg as two good young players who will likely be on the team next season. What's the rush? Is Chayka fighting to keep his job?

How will Arizona afford Hall? They'll likely have to overpay to keep him in Arizona, and they don't really have the cap space to fit $9.5M+.

Thanks I hope you are doing well also. If you haven't watched Mind Hunter, I think it's the best thing on Netflix. Also GLOW is really good. Currently I am enjoying Community.

Teams go decades without finding a Kuemper. They Coyotes also have Kessel, Hjalmarsson and OEL, and a bunch of early-to-mid twenties question marks. They've got to go for it now because they've put themselves in this position, and unless they do yet another rebuild, they've got no choice but to see it through.

Hall is elite and will continue to be for a few years. With a Hall/ Kuemper combo, they could easily just fluke into a cup, maybe even be hyper competitive for a couple seasons.

Add in market considerations and length of time since last competitive version of the franchise, Chayka doesn't have a choice here IMO.

If the Coyotes were the Leafs, I would hate the way Chayka built his team. But they are a small market team that has to take risks to win, and I think he's spit the difference rather creatively, given that he wasn't able to get that elite player through the draft.

As for Hayton and Soderberg they are going to be good, not great players (I mean you never know, but I doubt we are talking superstars here). Their best value is to be on a competitive team during their ECL years.

A rookie who can actually help a team at 900K is invaluable in a cap league. But I don't think these are wipe-the-board-clean and rebuild around them type players.

Soderberg, Hall (the portion the Coyotes are paying), Hinostroza, and Richardson combine to make more this season than Hall will make next year.

Signing him is dependent on him wanting to play here. If he wants to, they'll find the cap space pretty easily.

It's hysterical. Tanner is so insecure that when I challenged his statements in a hockey context, the only retort he could muster was a political response that was completely outside of the scope of the conversation. He wouldn't dare engage me in the political arena.

This makes no sense. What the Coyotes have to do to win, is to build the team through the draft. Not trade for players like Kessel or for impending UFA's like Hall. At least now you've come around and are admitting that Chayka has made a series of bad moves. This is a familiar timeline with you Tanner. It always takes you far too long to actually get it when people like myself try and explain things to you. Over time it is a sure bet that you will contradict yourself and do a 180. What is it with your obsession of whatever goalie the Coyotes currently have at that moment. First Raanta was a top 5 goaltender in the NHL when he was playing well. Now Kuemper is suddenly somebody who "teams look for, for decades"
