I Don't mind Holl.
Would have preferred Leafs to step away from Muzzin and go with Rielly - Dermott - Sandin on left side, and Holl (3rd pairing / 7th) and Liljegren (3rd pairing / 7th) on right side.
Still need 2 D-man for RHD positions of course.

- MaximusAurelius

Who'd be the sandpaper on D?
IMO None of the Leafs D strike fear in their opponents from the point.
With Muzzin you know to keep your head up and on a swivel otherwise here comes the BOOM!

Sean Day on waivers

Marlies?

I see no risk in it. If he can get his poop together, he might be a good player.

This is a coin flip. Let's say A just because of the Psylocke factor

I think the risk is that he takes a roster spot from another LHD prospect and has never lived up to his projected skillset at any level to warrant a contract on a top tier club.

He reminds me of hockey's version of Billy Beane - a "five tool player" who was never able to ever put it all together.

He's 22, has good mobility and size... but I dunno. Probably a pass for the Leafs.

I don't know the reason why he's on unconditional waivers but usually that means they are releasing him to leave to Europe/khl

Might the desire level be too low, seems to have the skill/ability but if he doesn't want to work hard at it might be why he hasn't lived up to expectations

I don't see that as a risk at all. That's what the minors are supposed to be like. Healthy competition.

I know that he hasn't lived up to his initial hype but he's also had a lot of poop happen in his life. That's why I said if he could ever get it together, he might be a good player. And I think that'd be worth it.

Yeah, I know. I was just responding to the other guy. And that I'd see no problem with the Marlies throwing him a "lets see" contract.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Day hasn't lived up to his hype since the heady junior days when he was given exceptional player status. And I think it's on this last point that people are really hanging on.

At one point in his life, he was horrendously overrated and he's been coasting on that assessment ever since.

I think it's time to accept that he's mediocre and the chances of him somehow elevating his game are slim to none.

There's a reason he slipped to the 3rd round in his draft year and he did very little in the AHL to prove he was worth a call-up with the Rags.

At best, he's a pretty decent ECHLer.

Could definitely be a lack of desire but I also wonder if he just doesn't have the hockey smarts to translate his mobility and size into an effective package.

Having said that, if I were a bottom feeding team I'd consider taking a flier on Day.

Like what?

I honestly don't know this kid's story - I have never heard of him.

One of seven players granted exceptional status into the CHL. Tavares, McDavid and Ekblad were three of those. Probably has a significant underlying issue.

Again, real life poop has messed him up. I'm not saying give him the keys, I'm saying see if he can get it together.

Besides, the Leafs got the deepest organisational system going. Nothing wrong with starting him in Newfoundland with the Growlers, if need be.

There is literally no downside to seeing whats what with him.

Agree, he's only 22, but for Rangers to drop him is not a good sign.

The top pics make it real tough, but when you get to #2 B wins by a landslide.

For sure. Not a good sign. But if the Leafs feel they can help him, go for it.

He was granted exceptional status to play in the ohl and younger age. I don’t think he has progressed the way he was projected. I would still take a flyer on him.

Then I’d love Ottawa to trade for Nylander or Marner. Package L Brown with the Isles pick + a couple 2nds...

meh, ill pass

Logan Brown is useless, the 2nd's are a crapshoot, and the Islanders pick is 21st.

Yeah, no thanks.
