I forgot about Morin. I’m guessing I’m not the only one.

You are the minority actually, every training camp many on this site state we should just start Morin over Hagg, we shall see if the trend continues. Injured or not. This kid deserves to catch a break though geez.

And that 1985 finals was the one where they finally said the 2-3-2 format in the best of 7 has to go.

Loved Sinisalo's goal scoring and grit. He was never the biggest name on the team, but the goals he scored seemed to be big ones. Sorry he is gone.

I think Hagg changed some minds this season. I just hate to lose young players like Morin before he has had a real shot to prove himself. But at this point, he won't get his shot here with the Flyers. Just not enough playing time.

I wish Morin luck though. He works really hard and has a great attitude. People like that should be rewarded at some point.

I read yesterday in JVR’s interview that he believed Hagg and Proverov were the only two Flyers that we’re currently skating. Now this article says Morin has been skating for six weeks. I’m a bit confused why more players can’t or don’ t want to find a place to skate. I can’t believe staying 6 feet apart on the ice would be that difficult.

I think everyone is where they should be on the depth chart. Hägg isn’t flashy but he does a lot of things well that you won’t see on the score sheet. He’s played the same way since making the team.

Hope Morin has some good luck for once. Injuries keep setting him back but hope he is a regular for the phantoms in the future with a hope of a call up. Hard to have attitudes like his.

It's not, but they'd be in the same enclosed space breathing each other's air (whether that space is voluminous or not), particularly if they're skating behind someone even greater than the six feet guideline.

Don't forget about this:
CDC.gov Report: "High SARS-CoV-2 Attack Rate Following Exposure at a Choir Practice — Skagit County, Washington, March 2020":
Transmission was likely facilitated by close proximity (within 6 feet) during practice and augmented by the act of singing.

The last phrase was emphasized because while the choir members failed to maintain the later specified minimum distance from each other (and did a bunch of other things wrong like sharing food and touching the same surfaces), it probably didn't matter because they were also breathing each other's air in an enclosed space in the greater force and capacity that's required for singing.

A physical activity such as skating imposes a similar requirement for increased respiration, more so with a mask covering the mouth and nose. So distance is less of a factor than being in the same confined space, even if it's the size of an ice rink.

Edit: As a reference, here is an ariticle discussing that CDC report:

I really hope the best for Sam Morin. I even partially remember Giroux in a postgame at some point talking about how having a guy like him in the lineup lets him and others feel more confident, or something like that. I'm sure some of that is generic team-speak, but it's probably also not completely without merit.

I was not really impressed enough with his play with the Flyers at any point, the few games that there were, to have him replace somebody else in the lineup permanently. But if he can have some luck with his health, and get a stretch of play with a team, he's got enough to be on a bottom pair somewhere in the NHL.
Assuming he hasn't lost any of his mobility.

They'd have to waive Morin first and risk losing him on waivers before they can send him down to the Phantoms. Imo, he would be claimed, and I don't want that to happen. Maybe start him on a conditioning assignment at the beginning of the year. I'm pulling for him, and rooting for him!

I don’t see anyway a team would claim Morin on waivers and be forced to carry him on their 23 man roster with his injury history and lack of experience. Secondly with talent like Zamula, York, Friedman Wylie and others in the pipeline there is no place for Morin in the Flyers future plans. If Morin miraculously works his way back to what he was before his injuries, that was a borderline NHL player. That’s why I don’t believe the Flyers will extend him beyond next season. Hoping he has a future in hockey, but it will be some where else.

I would seriously doubt that a team would claim him. He basically hasn't played n 2 years.

Yeah, thinking through it I don't think Morin gets claimed because of injury history and playing in 9 games in two years. I think it would benefit him to spend the whole year with the Phantoms. After that, who knows. I'm a big fan of his, and I'd like him to be a Flyer for the rest of his career. But they do have other prospects coming up. I'll be really disappointed if he's not a Flyer long term, but it is what it is I guess.

Still relatively young but at this point it’s hard to say anything other than Morin is cooked. He just can’t stay on the ice. Years later and I still stand by my draft day thoughts. Shoulda taken Domi or Pulock if they weren’t going to move up. Lotta guys in that 1st round have since panned out...

Really, you want him to be a career Flyer? He hasn’t even shown he can be a top four D man in the rare instances when he’s actually been healthy. No offense but I think you’re projecting a lot on the kid.

Clearly he was stating that in a hopeful kind of way and rooting for the kid rather than projecting anything.

Why would he get claimed? Any team claiming him would have to keep him on their NHL roster or put him back on waivers. No team is going to take that chance given his injuries.

If the Flyers and Morin are both lucky one of these two things will happen.

1. He is healthy, stays healthy for a good chunk of a season and a rehab assignment. Then has just enough value for a team to trade for him, either before or after a recall to the Flyers. (I'm not speculating on any trade value here intentionally as that is not the point).

2. He is healthy, stays healthy for a good chunk of a season and a rehab assignment. Then as injuries hit the Flyers, he coincidentally is ready for play and plays well enough to stick. After that, who knows but his prospects for the future would have to be better.

Also, these are in no specific order.

So if the Flyers are lucky, Morin will be healthy enough to play and stick or healthy enough to be and get traded.

I’m looking for a shorter way to say this.

Do you disagree? Do you have an alternate position you're putting forward? Or did you just need to lift your spirits?
