Dell might also provide a home town discount to come to Calgary. I, however, would rather see the Flames take a shot at BH70 this offseason and see if we could bring him in for 2-3 years as we wait for Wolf.

Lehner's a much better target than any of them and Rittich.

He'd also fit with the Swedish theme.

I would like lehner myself but given our cap situation we would left not being able to upgrade the rest of our roster at all (likely would wind up downgrading it)

I don’t even think that would be a bad idea by any means, I’m just not sure if we’re a goalie away from being a true contender

There's been some buzz about the Flames going after Hall. Lehner makes the team better than Hall does if he can play at a near Vezina level, and he probably costs the Flames at least 3 million less per year. If the Flames can get Lehner for 5 years at 5 or 6 million, it's pretty easy to fit into the cap when you factor in the 2.75 they're getting back with Talbot moving on.

It may be partially because I’m not a big fan of hall myself but I do see your point.

I think lehner’s next contract will be interesting. Last year he essentially signed a “show me last year wasn’t a fluke” contract. Not saying he’ll want bobrovsky money but if I’m his agent I’m asking for 7m per year.

I went to capfriendly just to see if it was possible. So signing him at 7m, extending Brodie at 4.75 and extending mangiapane at 3.5 while dumping Bennett and jankowski we were a couple hundred thousand over the cap with no one in the press box if the cap remains flat. It could probably be done but it will be tight.

Brodie will cost more than that, even on a discount. Think 5.5 per at least.

I'm not against signing Lehner, but then Rittich will have to go. Too expensive for a backup. Then again a team looking for a good platoon guy could give us a very decent asset for him.

Meh, with the available goalies and how cheap 1Bs are these days, I don't think you get much for him unless someone views him as their long term starter.

Think the Flames walk into next year with Rittich and a new backup and look to spend their money elsewhere on the roster.

If they resign Brodie or Hamonic, I think they are still shopping for another top 6 D, a backup goalie, likely a #3C and a top six winger. That's a lot to try to fit into $19.5M, so I agree in the thinking that you find someone for Bennett and Janko.

Interesting names out there like Barrie (value sewered by Toronto media?), Namesitkov, Haula, the Nuge... it'll be a crazy offseason.

Tough to say, he was on pace to miss the 30 point mark for the first time since his rookie year and will be on 30 this summer. I’m a fan of Brodie myself but I think 5.5 would be the max I would pay for 4 years. If we lock him up to a 4-5 year deal though I think we could get him in at 5 give or take a quarter mill.

But when teams like Florida hand Anton stralman getting 3x5.5 at the age of 33 your guess is as good as mine

What about Tyler Parsons ? Is he that bad of a goalie prospect ? Don't have thrust in him ?

Parsons had mental health issues around the time of his first or second pro season which hurt his on ice results

Fair enough. Think it's fair to suggest that his prospect status is not what it once was though.

911 and a 3.03 isn't anything to write home about

He's 22, it's not a write-off, but there's some sheen that has come off for sure
