Michael Ghofrani: Buffalo Sabres Draft Primer Part 2: Top 10 Draft Board For 1st Round Pick
- Michael Ghofrani

at quick glance (some five sites) has stutzle at #3 in four rankings and #5 in another...gotta tell ya, when I see marcel goc used in the same sentence as him makes me wonder...

in the current scenario sabres may go as high as 3rd, in which case it would be a very interesting choice between him and Rossi, although i'd take the latter...

if Buffalo stays at #7, no reason not to take perfetti if he's still on the board...looks like he's gonna be a good one

I'd be very surprised if they went with the "only 1 winner moving 4 spots up scenario"

From what I gather, a lot of GMs don't like that idea. So while I expect the lottery to be different, Id be shocked if it was just one lottery with limited movement.

Perfetti looks like he'll be a good one

There may only be 7 teams in the lottery if they go with the 12 team per conference playoff format that has been gaining traction.

I've read multiple places saying Jarvis lacks elite speed and an explosive first step, but you said his skating ability is strong?

if they fall to 10, there's really no reason not to trade down if the opportunity rises...I haven't delved deeply into the prospects yet, but it looks like there's a nice pool from eight or nine well into the teens

With the proposed playoff format, they'd fall no lower than 7.

Excited to see who’s career you guys ruin this summer.

Side note, please find it in your hearts to spare Cozens. I have him in dynasty.

He may lack an explosive first step, but could have a good first step that doesn't stand out? I still think overall he's at least an above average skater.

That would be picking 7th after missing the 24-team playoff on points percentage. Thus missing the playoffs by one spot and having the worst pick of the non-playoff teams.

I find that scenario unlikely because I think the 24 team playoff would be 1-6 divisionally. Still, it is a distinct possibility, and realistically, richly deserved

I have liked Lundell for awhile, but keep reading about his skating, sounds like he is falling a little because of that.

Cuomo finally admitting he made a mistake ordering 5,000 nursing home patients to their death.

Obamagate and the news he and Biden were spying on trump campaign and Flynn when originally denying it. Rough start of week for Sbroads and JFitz

They're not going 1 through 6 per division. They're taking the top 12 by merit (record). It also helps that going top 12 means the Rangers and Blackhawks will make it.

I want speed, not another slow center (Reinhart). We need to get faster.

Totally understand, just a lot of people are saying he compares to Bergeron and that's not a bad thing if he was to meet those expectations.

That was a Reinhart Comp too. All the top prospects always get compared to the best players in the League. Most never hit that high ceiling. If he was gonna be a Bergeron then yes you take them all day. But also if he was that good he would be going #1 overall.

My method for drafting is simple. Go to Elite Prospects 2020 Draft Center sort list by goal scorers. See where the scouting reports are ranking them. Pick the highest goal scorer on the list whose ranking is close to where you’re picking. If I play my cards right, I trade back for Jack Quinn and get Carter Savoie in the 2nd round. Can u say Lord Stanley? Boom roasted.

This means abandoning the divisional round of 16 that they've done for the past few years, unless you make the rangers an Atlantic team for this tournament. Which, i mean, sure, go for it.

Edit: nvm. I guess I'm wrong about the round of 16 being divisional. I haven't followed the playoff format closely enough in recent years
