How Jake Gardiner is not already in the NHL Hall of Fame is beyond me....

...now that he is fully out of the shadow of Subban...
- Sean Maloughney

Did anyone ever really think that Subban was the #1 defenseman on the Predators?

Ellis was lights out during the cup run. But he's been up and down since, mostly due to injury. Forsberg has the talent, but he's streaky. He'll go a long time without doing much then score in bunches.

Josi is the constant. He's consistently good, usually great. If Ellis is hurt, or Forsberg disappears, you know he's there. When the offense can't get it going, Josi can push it. If the offense is rolling, Josi can shut you down defensively.

It's Josi, and I don't think it's really close.

Tanner you are so full of crap. Saying that we are not good at evaluating players that don’t put up points or lay big hits, then turning around and saying we don’t see the value in Gardiner when his literal whole schtick is to put up points. If he is not putting up points he is even less useful because he sucks defensively. Will you get off Gardiners member already. Christ.

Tanner thinks that he's smarter than everyone else and is desperate to say so, so of course he picks a player different than his colleagues and most NHL followers would pick.
hipster

Hipsters are people that try too hard to be different (and genuinely do think that they're being different), by rejecting anything they deem to be too popular.

Ironically, so many other people also try too hard to be different that they all wind up being the exact same, so hipsters arent actually different at all, theyre just people that are snobbier and more annoying about their taste in "alternative" things, which are all popular now thanks to the other hipsters.

Hipsters pride themselves on liking things that no one else likes, and normally only really like them because they think no one else likes them and that theyre being unique. This is being delusional because all the other hipsters also like the same things.

It's Josi. It's a skill that's hard to put into words and doesn't translate into stats, but he transitions from offense to defense was well as anyone I've ever seen, and he carries the puck into the offensive zone better than most forwards. Ellis has had a nice rebound year after an awful 18-19, but he benefits greatly from having Josi as a partner. Josi has proven he's Josi regardless of who he's paired with.
