Tyler Cameron: Blackhawks Mailbag Time!
I hope everyone is remaining safe and healthy over there! I hope you're staying sane as well. I've been going crazy at times with the kids over here. We've resorted to painting rocks to pass the time.

Anyway, I wanted to mix it up with a mailbag edition.

To one of the comments, who to dump if they need to dump salary? I suspect the league has figured out if all but 2-3 teams need to dump salary, then nobody will be able to dump salary at least by trade. Since they are against compliance buyouts for financial reasons, the only thing left is changing the rules on a hard cap for some time period? That would require the flexibility to still be able to make other deals, or else you will only have gridlock and all player movement comes to a standstill.

In terms of the quality of TV viewing, I think it'll be weird with no fans but the quality of the broadcast will visually still be great. You'll have some announcers adapt quicker than others (as it will be weird for them not to play off the crowd).

What are Pat and Edzo going to do if they don't have 10 minutes of filler each game talking about an 8 yr old with ice cream?

Hey Tyler, meant to get a question in yesterday. I know Ian Mitchell is right-handed RD, but from the clips I’ve seen of him it seems like he’s comfortable on the left side as well (mostly on the PP?)... do you think he’d be willing/able to play LD with a vet, which could also make Maatta “more expendable”? Just feel like the right side is jammed with Boqvist, Murphy, and likely Seabs.

Can’t wait for draft stuff! So bored, even with being an essential worker.

Also, looking forward to the second book as I have my first child on its way this June! Could definitely use some insight...

They will need a "crowd noise" track like a laugh track on TV comedies. Monday Night football used to use fake crowd noise when Howard Cosell did the previous Sunday's game's highlights at halftime.

Tyler i missed the mailbag questions been dealing some back problems. So my question is seeing that pitt cannot afford jarry and murry what would a trade for murry look like between the hawks and pitt. 2nd and say a prospect. One other question who do pay if comes down to strome and kubalik but can only keep one not both. Also stay safe to you and your family.

I don't see how it will be such a financial crises for the NHL . They shut it down 1919 for the Spanish Flu ,they did it 2005 for greed .They should shut it down now for the public good as they did in 1919 .
I also think Bettmam idea to move up the Draft for ratings and exposure for the league is ghoulish on the back of a pandemic .
Leave the schedule alone. Draft lottery ,Draft ,FA . and hope to start on time next year ..

That’s the reason I don’t buy any of the owners claims that they “need” to finish this season.

I saw that comment also what Rutherford said, and would be curious as well, but it also depends on what they will sign for. Murray will probably want $5 mil. Per, but don’t know if he is worth that considering his injury history, and slight ( long and lanky) frame

I am not defending them in any way, but the difference here is that the owners had time to plan for the lockouts. This was thrust upon them without much warning.

Happy Friday Tyler and hawks fans. Great questions and enjoyed your take Tyler answering those questions.

One of the posters mentioned compliance buyouts ? I read recently that the owners in discussions have all agreed to no compliance buyouts .

I keep hearing that the June draft seems very realistic. My question is 2 fold

1 does Rocky hire a new president before the draft and if not do you believe Stan will have more freedom than in the past to make any moves regarding core players?

But:

They have TV negotiations coming up - and with sports (including NBC’s Olympics) shut down, networks need programming. I’m guessing NBC would be putting a lot of pressure on the NHL (and other networks on the other leagues) to provide live programming.

And I’m guessing the NHL hand the other leagues will bend over backwards (or frontwards, to kiss TV asses), as they usually do.

I like to see the nhl broadcast over 3 networks espn fox and abc nbc just imo not very good at coverage. Especially with nbcsn which some cable and streaming services don't provide unless you pay for it. Plus the sunday games should be at 2 pm eastern time not 11am or 11:30 am when people are at church or waking from there parting on Saturday. The playoff schedule is not very good also.

I get what you are saying. The problem is that, regardless of beliefs, affiliation or any other groupings, we are all in this together. The top needs the bottom. The bottom needs the top.

I've been brainstorming with a couple friends out here trying to put together a sort of neighborhood wellness group trying to get people to pick up and deliver groceries to the older people in the general area. A lot of the elderly that I have spoken to don't like (or trust) things like peapod, and the delivery options for groceries because they don't know/trust the companies or delivery people. I've done a couple myself so I asked a few neighbors if they would help out. I've got five so far. I'm in good health and am lucky enough to still be employed and earning well enough to be comfortable. My pops taught me to pay it forward whenever I can, and I thought he was a smart guy.

Hey that's great .Your right we all are in this together . I just don't trust the filthy rich .And really don't when they start putting the bottom line above people life's. What your doing is super ,and people like yourself are what keeps community together , in these tough times . I try to do my part such as it is .Staying home when I can keeping distance, wearing a mask, only shopping for essential donating to charities Food banks . Hey I bought the older couple behind me their meal last week at the drive though ,felt good .You keep up the great work
