Given the cap + term I'd definitely say Vlasic. With exception to his occasional whining (usually about the Olympics), I like the guy. But his game has really slipped the last few years and it's only going to get worse.

I'd much rather buy him out and sign a goalie to push Jones and resign Dillon (I know...not likely, but a boy can dream right!)

Jones, if the sharks had good goaltending they would have won the pacific last year and would probably be in contention for the wild card spot this year.

Yes in a few years vlasic’s contract will be a burden but so will be burns, Karlsson, kane, and likely Logan coutures. Erasing vlasic’s contract now isn’t going to be the difference maker between the sharks having the dough to contend a few years from now because the rest of the team will be a hot mess as well. This is why you subtract Jones who has been an absolute detriment to your current team and bring in a good goalie while your best players have a few good years left and a chance to win a cup.

I live in the Bay Area...

Pickles can still help them win in the next year or two.

Jones can't.. Buh bye.

Vlasic becuase Jones' normal buyout is much more palatable and goalies are high variance enough that he may still be able to bounceback. It's better to use the compliance buyout on the bigger and longer contract and deal with the other one through different means.

The aim should be retooling rather than stressing about maximizing the last functional years of Burns, Vlasic and co.

Jones absolutely 100% has to go. You buy out Vlasic, you have to replace Vlasic and still have to replace Jones. Vlasic may be poor value but he can play in the NHL, and he only plays at most 20 minutes a night. Jones can't play, and is out there 60 minutes.

I hate say Pickles, but the amount and term are much more problematic for the Sharks considering his decline. Plus, we have a plethora of good, young Lefty's coming up. Bring back Dilly, who was, and is, a solid Top 4 D with an edge. Burns will be exposed next year to Seattle with Merkley coming up.

Yes, the goaltending needs to be addressed, but we need some financial consideration in the future. BTW, probably trading our 1st rounder to Toronto for Kasperi Kapanen...

It has to be Jones because you have to move on from him.... goaltending is so important to winning. Vlassic’s contract is certainly more of a liability but he doesn’t play 60 minutes a night for 50 games...

If the Sharks want to be decent with their core still relatively effective, they need a goalie. Also, you can find good goaltending on cheaper contracts.

It was a toss up for me between Vlasic and Jones.
Ultimately, I would vote Jones off the island.

Even though Vlasics’ play has slipped, his team value is more important with Merkley coming down the pipe, the team will need that quiet calm backend presence to ease him in.
If we have a sieve for a goalie, A young d-mans confidence will be shot.

Jones, sadly, is replaceable. Lot’s of options have been floated about, plus we have a few young guys coming up the system. Sign a guy like Lehner, preferably Markstrom, 3 years -$6 mil, let Dell walk, bring up the young guys on a rotating backup situation for in game exposure. We would have a still young and solid goalie itching for a chance to start, and young hungry guys constantly nipping at his heels.
