Trade Leddy, and Casey his contract is up next year and will be demanding close to Pagaue money. Not a fan of the #44 signing by Lou, it is brutal they needed a goal scorer to play with Barzal not another plug taking 5m off the cap. Watch and see #44 next year might get 15 goals.

I think Cizikas is basically the perfect fourth-line center but I'm on board with the Isles moving him based on what he costs.

I personally didn't hate the Pageau deal but it was certainly too much money for how he's likely to produce on the third line. That said, he does fill a position of need, though his AAV should've been in the $4M/$4.5M range.

I would move Leddy only if he part of the piece bringing back Barzals scoring winger. When healthy CC is your second best face-off guy behind Pagaue. Pagaue is a solid pick-up best face-off guy on the team. If he see PP and not just third line minutes his point totals will be good.

Something interesting with Pageau was how much he was playing on the power play with the Islanders versus his time on the PP in Ottawa, which actually wasn't even that much.

Is that a ban I smell coming?

Or maybe it’s the N95 mask I’m wearing after shagging bruceflyers soon-to-be-former girlfriend. Sorry, my bad.

Ben, really 4.5 vs 5 mil per and he fills a need? I’m confused.
In Ottawa last season he was a fixture on the PP.

$4.5M on the high end. My problem lies in the fact that third-line centers are probably not the players you want to be overpaying. If Barzal or Pulock is overpaid a bit, they're both likely to be key parts of the roster until the end of the contract. With Pageau being overpaid, on the other hand, if the Islanders end up developing a great center who could play in the top-nine and they need to move Pageau down the road to make room, the more expensive the deal, the harder it would be to move, and trying to move out a third-line center who's only likely to score about 30-40 points and is being paid $5 million may not be easy to do. To be clear, I don't hate the deal and I like Pageau as a player but overpayments like that could end up mattering.

I also personally wouldn't call him a fixture on Ottawa's power play like Chabot or Tkachuk was. Ranked 10th amongst Sens skaters (min. 20 GP) in PP TOI/GP at the time he was traded.
