I’m really on the fence about this. I really think the draft order would be done fairly but on the other hand the picks that are conditional on player performance/postseason success for a year that may still resume seems ill-advised. Not to mention teams that traded picks for rentals may be looking for compensation if the year is canceled

Good, the Devils shouldnt even have the opportunity to win it (AGAIN), they should've added a draft lotto cap after the Oilers string

Well, I think this new draft actually has some real benefit in that we get Arizona's pick no matter what since it is top 3 protected and they cannot get in that range. Also it limits downside risk for our own pick at 6. So it's not the worst scenario for Devils.

Also there will be better picks available then Lundell, so please do not pick him until #17, do not like his attitude reports and the fact he could not make national team, red flags in my opinion.

As a Wings fan, I support this plan.

The plan includes trades involving conditions to be reformed so nothing is completely set in stone. For the Yotes, nothing major should change. I'm a little worried about the Vancouver pick, though.

I thought the reason he didn’t make the juniors team was due to injury. Personally I’m not high on taking him in the top half of the first round because of the scouting reports indicating he doesn’t have much of an offensive ceiling and on top of that is a slow skater.

I think he could be a good third line Center or at best a top six shutdown guy but I wouldn’t pass on the high end offensive talent this draft has at the top of the first round for him.

You are correct, I was confused and was referring to Gunler. Apologies to all. But agree with your analysis as well.

I was unaware of that about gunler, although I would say I was surprised he’s not more highly touted with his SHL points being on par with Raymond and holtz

It seems like the draft should be less screwed up then the regular season and playoffs from the pandemic. But the league seems intent on changing that.

The devils have no business getting the number one pick. We don’t need a repeat of the crosby draft where the league fixed it so the Pens got crosby. The reason the rules were changed was do get teams to try not to tank.

If the system was just NJ would t be allowed a top 10 pick after years of back to back #1 overall picks

So their are a lot of issues here but the draft structure should not be about helping or harming a specific team. It should be about having a fair system in place.

Realistically the draft should be the least effected by the pandemic interruption.

Our team ended the season on a pretty large winning streak and I don’t think they’ve ever intentional lost; but a rule disqualifying previous lottery winners (of all top 3) for a given number of years isn’t a bad rule. It’s just the league should be implementing random rules now. They should be trying to make things as normal as possible.

Not sure how we had back to back #1 picks
