It's close, but as good as Slavin is, I think you actually get more bang for your buck out of Pesce's contract.

Watching Slavin play the game is a pleasure. I don't know of another defenseman that is as good as Slavin using his stick to check. Paired with his long arms and skating ability, he is a sure top pairing defenseman for season's to come. He has some offensive giftedness but one knock on his game is shot selection from the blue line. Very few of his shots get through and he doesn't shoot particularly hard. The team is much better with Dougie pinching and creating offense than Slavin.
