Yet some Leaf fans will tout the strength of each player and over value all of them instead of seeing these prospects for what they are which is average.

I think the last 2 drafts the Leafs have gotten great value from the 29th and 53rd picks. Thats all you can ask for. Both look like sure fire NHLers at this point. hard not to like that

beats the hell out of trading up for Tyler Biggs or wasting a 1st on 4th liner like Gauthier.

But then they got Andreas Johnsson in the 7th round.

Who needs prospects when your window to win is right now.

And by window to win, I mean window to barely make the playoffs and get killed in the first round again.

😂😂😂
What I love about the meatheads who post on here all the time is that if you don’t unequivocally love Dubas and anything Dubas then you are a Leafs hater.

Pardon me but the reason we expect more from the Leafs is because actual fans want more than just fancy stats and first round playoff exits.
Building a team of losers that don’t even understand the importance of playing as a team just reminds me of when Montreal had all those tiny skilled guys. So all we need is our own Carey Price and he will lead us to the ECF?

Kyle Dubas literally came out and said that they don’t have the answers and he doesn’t have a magical solution to fixing the Leafs.
Okay so you are a general manager that has management experience at the OHL and AHL level. You draft and develop a philosophy since 2015 and after 5 years you literally don’t know what to do?
What GM has ever come out and said they have no idea what they’re doing and how they’re going to become a consistent team that will win. Yikes is an understatement.

So from two drafts the Dubas folk are more than happy with TWO possible NHL players, meanwhile, years before we were sacrificing GMs for not getting more value out of the NHL draft. What in the (frank) are these people taking for drugs to think Dubas is any more qualified than John Ferguson Jr?
Unreal.

This seems pretty apt. So I guess Jim Carey is supposed to be MLSE and Jeff Daniels is us fans?

I guess so.

Not entirely accurate, it's not like Andreas Johnsson is Pesce or Guentzel, but a good consolation prize after a pretty poop draft.

Maybe. I wouldn’t bet money on them beating Tampa. But they were playing a lot better than TB before the break, and anything can happen if you make the playoffs.

That being said.. People come in here on a daily basis talking (low grade) shït. And honestly, it’s giving us something to talk about.

Sadly, we’ve exhausted this topic already. There aren’t many teams I’d trade rosters with, with all things considered. I happen to agree we need a more balanced blueline, most of us know that. It’s not like Dubas didn’t try, it just didn’t work out. Leafs still hold a very strong hand, and are very well positioned to become a championship team. It’s going to take time, we have at least 4 more years with this core.

We encourage you to continue to try to poke holes in what the Leafs are doing, it’s sparks debate. But this “lEaFs pAiD tHeR PlaYuRs tOo mUcH - ThE wInDoW iS nOw” narrative is worn out, debunked, and not worthy of anymore discussion.

You sir, failed us.

I think the last 2 drafts look fantastic for the Leafs given where they're picked. You think Sandin and robertson are overrated?

The funny thing is in lists for prospects, you often drop in the rankings because your draft picks are good enough to be promoted. Mike's article even mentions we dropped a little because Sandin got called up due to injuries, and thus didn't count anymore as a prospect.

I can't believe you are tryiing to knock Dubas for his last 2 drafts. He's hitting it out of the prark.

Many Gms have said the same thing about having no answer, even past Leaf GMsd. Not sure why you are acting like that was an odd answer.

Would you prefer the Babcock like approach of "Stick to the plan and grind it out" every night?

That's the thing, we knew they'd be low after they had the likes of Marner/Matthews/Nylander brought up a few years back. This means very little.
