There are at least 5 different answers that could be argued for this question and you supply only 2 viewpoints?
Disappointing.
At least one of them got it right.

MB29 BLACKWOOD...

…who beat Igor in their head to head.

Plus McKenzie can drive a car. Just shows more all around coordination.

Is Jarry too old to even be listed in the open paragraph?

Lol, well played.
I have yet to make it to the Big City, bit from the photos and videos I've seen, I don't know why anyone would ever drive those streets!

To be fair, I think we beat him in his first game (like a week) after the rib injury so it might be due to throwing him into game action to soon. Igor is a monster and should be great for years. Our team/bad D might kill Blackwood.

Regardless it will be fun to watch these guys if hockey ever comes back.

Absolutely. And if the Isles can get Sorokin to come over, then pretty well every divisional game in the Metro should be a highlight reel of great goaltending!

Could be. What is your rationale?

He plays with the most Hart.

I mean Heart.

But no.
He’s not the best and the Flyers will ruin him anyway.

There is no valid answer at this time. All of them are potentially the best and it may take years to see who is the best. Personally I like Hart and Samsonov because I drafted them in my keeper league when they were draftable. However Blackwood has emerged and looks good, the Rangers may have the best of them all and I am not sure how Elvis got selected by Sean over any of the others.

Simply because of his home stats, none of the others can match those stats. Plus he came into the league being the best goalie in the CHL two years in a row. Did i mention I am a flyers fan, lol

lol. I'm actually in Hart's corner (not that I would choose him over Shesty!).
I don't come even close to hating the Flyers the way I used to, as they have truly likable players like Giroux, Couturier, Hayes, etc. And they really haven't had a goalie they could depend on for more than a couple of months since Lindbergh.

From pics I have seen it should be pretty easy to drive these days. I can't wait till the freeways are packed again! Be safe everyone.

lol. All fair points, even the last one!
I choose Shesterkin because he has been on the NYR radar as the heir to the throne for so long now and it's finally happening. And because he has put up dominant numbers in every pro league he has played in to date.

That is not nice Queenie-5-hole, lol Mackenzie Deadwood or Mackenzie Blackhole ?? JK I really like Blackwood but the Flyers will not ruin Hart. All the deadwood like Hakstol, Hextall, Laviolette who refused to play Bobrovsky, all those losers are gone and Fletch and AV know how to handle things going forward. Looking forward to Hart vs Blackwood, Hart vs Samsonov, etc Going to some great battles

I hear ya, Shesterkin is going to be real special and maybe the best. Time will tell but for now I am hoping it is Hart and Samsonov

To help this discussion I'm listing these goalies from youngest to oldest, and counting their NHL games played:

Mackenzie Blackwood: 23 - 70GP
Ilya Samsonov: 23 - 26GP
Igor Shesterkin: 24 - 12GP
Ilya Sorokin: 24 - 0GP
Tristan Jarry: 24 - 62GP
Elvis Merzlikins: 25 - 33GP

I like it, at this rate Hart has the most potential and in two years will be far ahead of any 23 year olds. The others will be 26, most likely shining but hard to not give Hart the overall edge here.

I can't say that Hart is the best of these young goalies. But it says a lot about him that at age 20-21 he was tying and setting records in the NHL and these other goalies at the same age were still at the development stage of their careers.

I totally agree and I did not say he is the best but looking at your presentation of games played and their ages, Carter on paper has surpassed the rest. The Flyers also took the most risk in playing him so young but it appears he has passed the test. Once he starts bringing his home game to visitors rinks he will certainly be a stud. Never forget either how fast life can change, remember Dan Blackburn, what a shame!

Not saying you aren't correct in the assessment of Hart, but I don't feel it's accurate to say Shesterkin or Sorokin were in developmental stages while dominating the best league of their home country.

I have a Blackburn jersey from his rookie year, I love it . I later watched him play in the lower pro ranks with two blockers, he would have been the next Ranger great in goal imo. I can still remember one game in particular when the Rangers were under seige and Blackburn was robbing the opposition blind.
