Anthony Travalgia: Bruins and Lightning take rivalry to the next level The Bruins and Lightning combined for 94 penalty minutes Saturday night in what hopefully is a playoff preview.

Holy cow. That was some old-time hockey right there. I don't even care who wins in that kind of game. It was entertaining as hell to watch. Of course, it was nice to see the Bolts escape that barn with a win (not many teams have this year), but I hope the Hedman injury isn't serious.

I am rooting for Pasta to get the rocket over Ovechkin. I just didn't want to see him pad his total against the Lightning. LOL.

Of course, Kucherov could go on an insane red-light streak and give Pasta a run for the rocket, but I don't think it's going to happen this year.

when Bruins scored those 2 in the second, I thought the game was theirs. Great game, tense.

I got a little nervous there. To me and many fans, this was a litmus test for the Lightning. After the Bruins schooled us in our own barn, the Bolts needed to go into Boston and make a statement. I think both teams accomplished that. The Bolts proved they can be the team that does the pushing around (for a change) and the Bruins proved they are still not to be trifled with in that department.

Man, Maroon must have a death wish. Chara would kill him. I got respect for anyone willing to fight Chara.

Didn’t realize Maroon was so strong, he threw down Chara with ease on the second takedown.

And ppl say Chara is dirty...

Cross-checked into boards headfirst from behind, then again later on from behind by Cirelli. He a tuff one that Cirelli... cross-checks then backs away out of the fray. And he didn't even get a penalty for that. LOL

Maroon is a rock. A big rock with concrete skates and decent hands. I was skeptical when the Lightning signed him, but I've grown to like him. His stats don't impress, but he fills a role on the team that was badly needed. Past Lightning squads have been accused of being soft. This roster is not soft, although I'm not sure adding pylons like Schenn and Bogosian are worth the sandpaper.

Cirelli and Sergachev have both started playing with an edge lately. It's new for both of them. Sergachev is surprisingly good at using his size smartly. He seems to have a good feel for balances, center of gravity, and positioning. He's really starting to throw his weight around and while he's not a big monster, he's not a little guy either.

I just want to see everyone keep it clean. I like a good clean hit, but don't want to see all the dirty stuff.

When? He always runs off with his tail between his legs. The only time I have ever seen the guy fight is when he was cornered and had no choice.

Look it up. he has AT LEAST 10 fights.
And since he's not a big guy - you can't accuse him of picking on the little guys.

I did. I was surprised. And I was shocked that I forgot about the Stamkos and Marchand tussle. I wouldn't really call that one a fight, but at least he dropped the gloves and stood his ground. Stamkos doesn't fight much, so Marchand must have really gotten under his skin.

I bet players have tried to entice him into a lot more fights than 10. But, I guess I have to reluctantly give him some credit here. LOL.

yeah, can we stop the narrative that the Bruins have the refs in their back pocket now?

He is a coward who hides behind a teammate. Or will sucker someone than scurry away cowardly.

The times he does "fight" is when it is someone not even known to be a physical player in any way.

He is a great hockey player but easily the biggest chump in the league. I have more respect for Avery which says a lot

I find it funny that Marchand is a 100 pt scorer and apparently he’s supposed to scrap with goons. What 100 pt scorer does that? I’ve said it before, Marchand will fight the majority of top line talents, he’s not gonna fight scrubs

When you run around slew-footing, spearing, chopping, licking faces, and trash-talking, you should be prepared to have the other team's goons take runs at you. He's not suicidal, so I don't expect him to pick a fight with Tom Wilson. But, I am really surprised nobody has not opened a can of McCarty on him for his antics.
