Reaves, Hamonic maybe keep DeMelo and Eakin. I wouldn't be planning a stanley cup parade or even calling the Jets contenders Wesley if that's Chevy's off season plan.

It was hard to watch the physical beatdown of our guys. Wheeler, Poolman, Pionk, Bitetto, Laine, Kulikov, Appleton - all took big hits, no way we survive a series like that. Washington looked like a team built for the playoffs.

The physicality was us for the past few years and now we are the Montreal Canadians. I agree - get some muscle back in the lineup. Lowry will help but a heavy on D would be better.

2.0 - What you say is all true. But of course this has not been a big secret, we have need some sandpaper since training camp. Physical teams can take advantage of us.

Of course, that is one of the reasons a guy like Adam Lowry is missed. But Lowry, alone, of course, would not be enough. That is exactly why you need some size and grit on the back end.

Getting a guy like Josh Andersom would help, as would Ryan Reaves as has been mentioned. Then add a couple of big, mean, physical d-men - oh like Dillon, would certainly protect and help our skilled forwards play their game without getting run time and time again. How many times have guys like Scheifele and Wheeler ( not small but not physical) got crunched this year?

After a while, the physical end takes a toll. Need some muscle!

Travis Hamonic and Ryan Reaves would be great additions along with one more tough D-Man...we have to have somebody clear the front of the net.

Bitetto looked pretty awful on the Vrana goal. Yeesh !. Hopefully, Morrissey or Niku can get healthy quickly. Nice comeback, but competition like Calgary keep winning. Jets need to beat the Caps at home or it starts to look quite grim.

Yeah, from what I saw, he was bad last night. He also had a terrible clearing attempt on Hathaway's goal.

This team has really really missed Little all season and who knows of he's ever coming back but at this point if the goal is to make the playoffs Maurice has to put Wheeler back to 2C.

I like Copp but he is absolutely not a top 6 forward and Eakin is a 3C, maybe it's time to try Roslovic at 2C idk but if they want to make the playoffs it's not gonna happen with Copp at 2C.

I've been saying that about Copp for weeks now.....he is not a #2 center.

24 points over the final 17 games should do it. Playoffs would be a good for the progression of the team.

was anyone else left scratching their head after Ehlers' shootout attempt? (slapshot from the top of the circle)

Holtby was above the top of the crease, maybe showed 5-hole? Ehlers came in with no speed and little deception - all in all it was not very Ehler-esk.

Probably a confidence thing, he's kind of
snake bitten/unlucky on breakaways and shootouts.

That's a 12-5 record. Yeah they do that they deserve to make the playoffs, but what are the odds of that happening?

94 points is the 'almost certainly in' mark, some scenarios the cutoff may be less. there will be a few loser points in there as well. Sportsclubstats puts their statistical chance at about 30% to make the playoffs with a weighted record, 35% with 50/50 projection.

If only Kyle Connor could take every shootout attempt we'd be gold.

looking ahead to free agents next year;

my top targets on D;

R. Pulock pending RFA, Islanders will have 11 million in cap space to sign 8 players and Barzal will be the top priority and also take the bulk of that space, working out a trade for Pulock may be an option??

Pietrangelo ufa - Blues will have 7 million in cap space to sign 7 players, trying to fit AP's new salary of 7-9 million under the cap will take a lot of moves.

Tanev and Hamonic would round out my top 4 but I'd pay the least for these two, CANT go over 3 year deals and has to be under 4.5 mil per year!! these have risk

*all these D are right shot

Top targets at Center;

*sadly I don't see any pending UFA's worth going after

RFA's I wonder if could be traded for ( i'm not mentioning guys like Luc Dubois or Barzal cause they are going no where )

Domi
Nolan Patrick
then theres a gap to these two;

Trocheck was the guy to get. Another two years at 4.75 MM. That would have left lots of room to chase another top 4 defenseman next year. I don't fault Chevy for much but the only reason I can think of as to why the Jets didn't get him was that he had WPG in a no-trade clause. Chevy could have easily shipped off Roslovic and another prospect or a 2nd and gotten him. Slim pickings out there now.

agree with Trocheck, would've like that.

I do wonder if there is a bigger deal to be had for a guy like Kopitar or Toews but you are talking no move clauses and huge contracts they are no longer earning, so how much would it cost and how much salary would those teams retain?

Tampa might be willing/forced to part with a center - Gourde? Johnson? Cirelli? Does Pittsburg blow it up if they fall flat in playoffs? Ryan N-H become available? Will Anaheim go to rebuild and make Getzlaff or Henrique available?

Trocheck has no trade protection, he could've been traded to any team and wouldn't of had any say in where he was going.

Domi is the guy that the Jets need, should've sent the 1st++ for him at the TDL.

Definitely not Nolan Patrick......a concussion looking for a place to happen.
And the search will continue for a center for Laine..............

guys like Gary Roberts, Crosby and a few more have returned after concussion/neck injuries and managed to stay fairly healthy. If there is reason to believe Patrick's health concerns can be managed then I don't mind buying low.

I don’t mind buying low, if you can. But his injuries are not just head and neck, his injuries history goes back to Brandon and it’s completely random. He’s never been one to stay healthy
