Karine Hains: Plenty of Excuses Not so long ago, there was a huge sign in the Habs locker room that read "No Excuses"...Good thing it was removed because the GM's post trade deadline presser was an impressive collection of excuses.

The sign in the Habs locker room should now read "No Clue".

I don't live in Montreal, but the only way massive changes will happen is if the Bell center is half empty for an extended period of time. Fans need to send a message to the organization by not showing up. Molson and bergevin right now believe its ok to just be a playoff contender. As long as they have that mentality, the habs will not win another Stanley Cup.

Not going to happen.

Season ticket holders will renew, corporate sponsors will renew, so the only place that can have an impact is walk-up-tickets (or whatever they are called) and scalpers (who are likely having their asses handed to them and I am more than fine with that).

Great blog. Sad part is that the owner seems bedazzled by his GM

MTL should absolutely NOT re-sign Tatar or Petry.... Petry will be 33 going on 34 when his new contract starts he is going to start to decline fast, Tatar is 29 now will be 30 going on 31....

next year trade deadline should be more exciting than this one.
Petry, Tatar, Danault, Gallagher, Armia will all turn UFA.

unless you expect them to be in a playoffs spot!

problem for MTL is now all their players are all over the place in age groups because the idiot bergevin refused to do a proper rebuild, what makes the "Core" of MTL?

hard hard times are ahead for MTL fans, it is not looking good.

Meaningless games? Habs received a bunch of picks for players that weren't coming back. Tartar, and especially Petry are solid guys who are signed for next season. Not UFA's. What did Bergevin do wrong today? Keeping Kovy and others in the loop is a sign of respect for what they have provided for the team. I don't see how players looking to sign in Montreal in the future would be discouraged by hearing this. I see other GM's throwing around first rounders like they're nothing. Very pleased our GM made smart hockey moves

I would expect Gallagher to have been extended by then and depending on how the young centres develop maybe Danault as well...

Thanks for the positive comments guys
