I see Fletcher made some marginal moves today... some things never change. |

Giving up Parise for just Ladd would have been a dumb move cap room or not |

Given the obvious direction this team needs to move as far as the future is concerned personnel-wise, it really blows my mind that ol' Billy couldn't find some way to make even one move... The Parise move made a ton of sense from a cap standpoint, but nothing else. Not unless the Wild would have gotten something other than Ladd back in the deal... ie. prospects and/or picks.
That being said, this team still had some really attractive trade pieces that could have garnered high picks and prospects.
Dumba, Brodin, Spurgeon, Staal, Zuccarillo... ???? |

Not moving Staal baffles me... He has more in the tank than Jumbo Joe at this point and you're telling me that you could have gotten a 3rd for Staal? |

I guess when it comes to the Wild, not only do we get to say "wait until next season"...it appears that we get to say "wait until the off-season" for the dynamics of this team to be changed. My guess is that BG was asking for the world on most of the Wild players and just will have a bigger base of teams to trade with when it comes to the off-season.
At least summer is looking closer than ever.... |

I'm okay with not making moves just to make moves, but seller value is always higher during the trade deadline... Although the off season does widen the market considerably, teams are less willing to take chances and give up assets.
I just have to wonder how much Leopold was involved??? I'm sure he's still hanging on to the idea that this club can make the post season... Like i've said, it's just time for him to bite the bullet and give in to the "rebuild". Like MNhockeyguy said, why keep Staal? He's got one year left on a cheap deal, had to have been a half dozen teams that would have taken him for at least a 2nd or 3rd round pick and prospect... Gotta wonder if they even shopped Spurgeon or Dumba?... |

At least the moves that were made came with a decent return in the Pens 1st pick and top prospect. Da Hawks really got nothing in return for Gus and a darn good goalie and better goalie than the one they kept. Very good point out of Chicago, if they couldn't have got a better return, then why not keep em on the roster. Maybe BG did that. |
