Tyler Cameron: Deadline Day – Blackhawks Live Blog
This blog will serve as a live blog with rumours, whispers, and instant trade analysis.

As it stands right now, the Hawks sit with Erik Gustafsson and Robin Lehner as the two main assets for Stan and the Blackhawks.

Stay tuned for more.

Think Saad could bring a decent return, if they choose to go that route.

Just hoping Stan can extend or trade Lehner (and only extend if reasonable term and Cap hit). Move Gus, maybe move Crow.
Actually, move ANYBODY not named Kane, if it gets you decent picks or prospects.

C'mon Stan....add to the youth will ya!!!

I'd add Dach and Boqvist to that short list, but also hope he keeps stocking the pond.

Most of our high end talent is up but another top 5-10 pick should help...hopefully along with another 1st and 2nd rounder acquired through trades today.

What is strange at this point is he held gus out for 2 games and no deal announced yet. Why? Normally a player held out is moved quickly. The deal was done and announced.

1. Are buyers balking at Stan's price?
2. Is Stan going for a package deal or multiplayer multiteam deal.
3. Was there a deal and one side pulled out?

And still no rumors bout the hawks by Ecklund.

This all suggests nothing is close.

Just keep drafting well. Need or maybe it is prefer a top six forward from 2020 draft. I would not be happy if the best player available is not a forward! We have enough dmen prospects!

Hope it doesn't turn out that Stan needed to package some players insofar as to get the return which is worthwhile. Can always try to move up in draft. The best players are in top tier round one so here's hoping one way or another this is where our next prize core player is plucked.

One other point. I do not understand the love for Saad GIVEN the circumstances

Sure he is a valuable desirable asset. But salary forces teams to attach a rough approximate value per slot in the line up. Saad is not a $7-8 mill)yr affordable. There are a few similar players in Rockford.

Stan has been hamstrung by egregious contracts he handed out AND perhaps this will lead to the reported non interest in term from Stan insofar as the Lehner sweepstakes/swEETstakes.

Perhaps Lehner returns after he learns he had few suitors if any for his asking price. Could waiting prove worthwhile if Lehner signs another sweet deal?

Quick is surely going to be available and Lundqvist has what left on his contract? If a team wants a top notch goaltender, then there is the option of trading with them being in a buyers market - especially one season from expansion.

The Green trade where Wings pay part of remaining contract & only get a 4th (well he is a often injured older player) may be a harbinger of what to expect vis - a- vis value in the renumeration. On this I concur with Tyler

I believe it will be quiet and disappointing for Hawk fans. Lehner has drawn the line in the sand holding out for too much money and/or term and Bowman will move him but the return will be low for a rental. Maybe a 2nd that would turn into a 1st if that team makes it to the conference finals. Anyone think Carolina is getting to the conference finals? I don't. Gus will be moved but the return probably will only be a late round pick or "B" level prospect that may never make the NHL. If they move Saad maybe they get a 1st round pick from a contender (probably a late round pick) and a forward middle six prospect that is close to NHL ready. (Think of a Beaudin type level of prospect, but a forward and not a defender.) I would be ok with each of these moves. But I would probably keep Saad if preliminary contract talks with him (and his dad/agent) were reasonable.

I think if they trade Lehner and Crow stays healthy and plays at a high level the rest of the year they sign Crow after the season for a year or two at the most at a little lower cap hit than he is making now.

Or, have the heart broken by giving up on some good guys who tried their best. Do not envision an enjoyable outcome, but still could walk away ELATED! I think that many a pitchfork was sharpened before bed, last night.

I would trade Bowman and his coach for a slice of Portillo’s chocolate cake, I hope on a throw in I get a glass of whole milk too.

Or they had no deal, but they did not want him to play and risk injury.

For the trade deadline I predict:

Gus is traded for a disappointing draft pick.

That is all.....

Could see the Hawks doing this again. After the Cam Ward experiment, though, you'd think they'd wake up screaming at the thought. I see another 50-50 goalie split, which means they'd need a good backup who isn't an untested kid.
