Chayka has been making the wrong moves for a while now. He has his team in hockey purgatory. Good but not good enough and capped out. Wrong approach.

Still waiting for the analytics advantage Chayka is supposed to have to kick in. Any day now.

I thought Chayka was decent for awhile.

But results speak for themselves.

I'd personally flip Hall.

They could really use a Dylan Strome type right now.

Go Big for Kyle Palmieri! He’s really good with Hall!

They should flip their draft picks before they lose them.

Analytics advantage is not going to kick in. Because building a team on analytics is dog poop. Just ask Dubas and everyone else that’s failing with that method. Analytics is a nice tool to have but you can’t build a roster on it. It’s ridiculous and that’s proven over and over again

Agree to an extent. What analytics can’t predict is chemistry. Then again, neither can the eye test.

Yes, there is definitely an advantage to correctly measured and understood analytics, but thus far that advantage is proving to be much smaller than the supporters have espoused. It’s not the be all and end all by any stretch. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that some teams have even misapplied it to the extent of it becoming detrimental.

Arizona is currently out of the wildcard slot, with 18 games left in the season. Every team they are chasing have between 1 (Winnipeg) to 4 (Vancouver) games in hand. As well, Minnesota is 3 points and Nashville is 2 points behind Arizona. And both of have 4 games in hand on them!
When do analytics take into account games remaining and lack of games in hand?

Strong answer James. Nobody could possibly think otherwise based on this well thought out response.

It's just one tool to use. We have to remember that NHL teams have much better analytics than the public has access to. The latter are mediocre at best and really can't be used for individual player analysis reliably.

I agree that adding a 1C would be a massive improvement, I only disagree that it is for the purpose of playing with Hall. Ive watched plenty of Hall over the years, and can tell you the guy generates offense by himself. He rushes the wing, drives the net, and gets chances almost every shift. If you do get a true 1C, put Keller on his left, and Garland on his right. You could easily have 3 scoring lines. Hall can carry a line of decent players on his back.

Pretty sure one of your 3 goalies could be used in a big trade

I remember Tanner talking about chuck fletcher horrible trades over summer bringing Niskanen and Braun to philly when all they have down has stabilized flyers defense

Maybe someday, an analytic GM will win a playoff series
