Tyler Cameron: Fake Blackhawks Trades
I love writing this blog. However, I was hoping this year, I'd be able to write about the Blackhawks "buying" players vs. being in a selling position.

We all know the NHL Trade Deadline is on Monday. We all know the Hawks have completely soiled the bed as of late; CHI has just 2 wins in their last 10 games.

So without further ado, let's look at what could happen from now until Monday with the Hawks selling off some pieces to help them get back on track for the future.

Edit: must create a new account as I have left out the “L” on Caulfield.

As an outsider, I think you've overvalued the goalies and undervalued Gus... flipping both to Carolina might net you that first rounder but I dont believe they're looking for a rental goalie. They have Nedeljkovic waiting in the wings to takeover and unlikely to be signing a UFA goalie on July 1.. more likely they'll look to move one this summer.

I just cant see Puljujarvi being traded before the draft, unless its for a guy like Strome (not saying the hawks would do that).

Calgary is an interesting trading partner because they do need a goalie and LHD. They could win the division it's that wide open in the pacific. I think Chicago can get Sam Bennett (former top 5 pick) and a pick in 2020 for Lehner, Gus, retaining salary and eating Talbot's contract.

You clearly either don't do enough research or don't watch other teams. Calgary wouldn't, nor have any reason to, trade Talbot for Crawford straight up. Nevermind your ridiculous suggestion of including Dube AND a pick. Love crawford but hes aging, oft injured, and not worth an even more compentant goalie, a young kid whos projecting to be a solid top 6 forward AND a draft pick (of any kind..). Hopefully Treliving isn't smoking what you are

I like the idea of getting Bean, that would be a great pick-up. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see Gus re-signed for a couple more years.

I heard the Avs are looking for a goaltender. I'm surprised you don't have any fake trades going to them?

I would like to do a

To Col:

Saad
Lehner

To Chi:

Bryam
1st round pick.

Colorado gets a goalie and a top 6 power forward. We get a pick and a top defensive prospect. We could possibly throw Beaudin into the trade aswell, if Col wants a lower D prospect going back.

Why would Jesse Puljujarvi’s 17 career NHL goals cost the Hawks Saad and his 342 Career NHL points + 200ft play?

Well all the fake trades is just a bit like ideas swirling through a GM's mind.

I am keeping perspective on the TDL by accepting the fact that at the end of each day both Monday & any other day, Bowman has a plan and I doubt he veers much off course

The priority has and will continue to be for the team to be competitive while retooling. This is per meeting the wish of Rocky, whose businessman approach is to remain competitive enough so that fans keep showing up. If this was the team you owned, there is not much doubt you would manage otherwise

That said, it is a buyers market. The obvious choices are to move Crawford, Gus and probably Saad. Saad is the only loss to actually lament. But his contract is difficult to pay - you keep him then where do you make payroll cuts?!

Bowman may have gambled by waiting too long to deal in past years....the Sharp trade eh?! Wanted a high draft choice.

Well perhaps Bowman figured Gus could repeat his stat line and Gus was the guy until offensive gifted Boqvist came up and ready.

We are looking at a mystery with Lehner both in possible subterfuge and whether he is playing not 100% healthy (lingering knee injury)

I choose to believe he is closer to his awesome results earlier than later this season. The rebuild is longer if you subtract Lehner. I am also bothered if they do not sign Gravel; he may be their best goaltender as far as his ceiling goes.

We have plenty of dmen prospects so now it would be fitting to add top six forward prospects. Using the best player available mantra, we do not necessarily know we are able to draft a top six guy. In an ideal world we could package whatever draft choices we get in TDL moves with our own #1 just to get an earlier draft for a first tier round one forward.

The biggest question is going to be next season whether Colliton remains is hurting our record.

And stop bashing Stan some of you for everything. Be in his shoes in past years and try to keep the team competitive. Sure he has some poor moves but I hope that he is beginning to see that teams need to be tougher nowadays. He might just have the making of a very skilled puck moving defense with a strong bottom six. How he augments this just begins to come into focus with TDL moves and expansion draft manuevering.

IMHO, I believe that Lehner has the Blackhawks against the ropes. With the spin machine of McD needing something to pitch fans, Lehner’s play, our bad season and his fan status ... it makes Lehner almost a sure thing to stay in Chicago.

You seem to really value backup UFA goalies. Take a look at what these guys get traded for around this time the past few years.

It is going to be pretty disappointing exercise.

Also, Gustafsson refused to sign in Edmonton years ago. Why would he want to go there now?

IMO if you’re gonna make a Fake Trade list for the Hawks there’s gotta be at least one involving Malkin.

Hands down the best Fake Trade target the Hawks have been interested in over the years.

Maybe at the time he didn't like the management or the coach , think Edmonton has had about 47 coaches since he left.
Also not sure if you are referring to Crawford and Lehner as the back ups but pretty sure they have proven they are starting goalies.
Think it would be silly for teams like Colardo and Carolina to waste a season by not having top of the line goaltending.

You know what the best part of blogs like this is - we get to see fans of other teams overrating their prospects. Colorado has as good a chance as anybody to get to the SC out of the west = Byrum is a nobody if they can win it this year. Fans of Colorado, do you really think Joe will sacrifice this season just to keep Byrum in the organization?
