Karine Hains: And so it Begins... Marc Bergevin might well be in Colorado to visit his daughter but he is clearly still working the phones as the trade deadline nears...

Acquires Scandella for a 4th
Scandella plays better hockey than he did in BUF
Weber comes back early
trades Scandella for what he paid plus a 2nd
extremely nice work by MB

Very well done, indeed.
That is excellent asset management.

yeah just added that...to be fair, it really doesn't matter at this point since we're hardly pressed against the cap...

Indeed, cap space is an asset that can be used to make deals.

That injury is so bad he had to come back and play...

Maybe it wasnt so bad at all.

he said it himself,
he came back to help them out while there's still a chance they make the playoffs

with the kind of medical advice they're getting I don't understand how they could be 100% sure he won't aggravate his injury, but at this point, whatever lol

So....are we cheering for an early exit for the Blues so the 2nd rounder is better or for them to win a couple rounds so they get a 4th too?

I'm going with early exit

At this point, for me it's all about getting the highest picks possible ... so yes, I'm also hoping for an early exit for the Blues. Who cares about a low fourth pick anyway?

I couldn't care less about trading in division, but that doesn't mean you can't charge a premium for it

Wouldn't care either but the B's don't have much of what Les Habs would be looking for

Picks are picks...it all depends what else is being offered, although Tatar doesn't have to go just to go. Kovalchuk, they should get what they can get

I'd want more than just picks for Tatar, I'd want something much closer to the NHL

If Scandella gets a 2nd, does Kovalchuck get a 1st?

I'm telling ya guys ... D's are worth their weight in gold at this time of year.

Let's stock up on some more this June, we could flip some of them in year's ahead.

Hmmm, in my opinion that's asking much for a 36 yr old ... maybe if we add something else to sweaten the deal?

Or maybe a 2nd + a B prospect?

I wouldn't be opposed to giving a 2nd as well, it depends at which rank the pick is in the 1st round.
