They need to get Dumba (Wild keeps 2 million salary) and Foligno for Kerfoot, Bracco, Abruzzese, Barrie (who they can move to get a first), and Lindgren or Hollowell.
This gives the Wild a 2/3 center/winger, two potential #1 or 2 wingers, a first or second round pick, and a good defense prospect that is two years away. A pretty good haul.
Leafs get their top pair right defenseman at 4 million for three more years and some more physicality for a year. |

Dumba is not what the Leafs need. The Leafs need a D who can actually play solid defence and who also has footspeed. Dumba is one of these things. |

I admittedly don't watch Minny play, but isn't Dumba another Barrie-esque player? That's what message boards have led me to believe anyway. |

Yes but he can also throw a big hit. Shot isn't as accurate and is the same defensively. |

Marlies win 4-2 despite the refs trying to job them and handing Belleville power play after power play.
Kasisuko played pretty well but he seems to move around way to much, reminds me of Sparks that way.
Korshicov with a beauty, nice hands but still doesn’t use his size. Got drilled on a hit and no push back. He needs to toughen up or he will get killed in the NHL.
Adam Brooks listed at 5’8 and 180 fought Willanin from Ottawa listed at 6’2” and 185. And Brooks fed Wollanin his lunch. Brooks threw bombs right from the get go, he is Manitoba tough clearly. I was impressed.
No Ben Harpur dressed tonight either?
Nor Ruch Clune - although I think he’s a healthy scratch a fair bit.
Marlies are clearly deep as they are missing a lot and still Beat the division leading Sens.
Gravel looked good tonight, not super star quality but solid.
Was a good game, Belleville has a nice barn, old Yardman arena has been redone nicely. |

Severson and Vantanen are interesting but kind of meh options. Neither is a top pairing solution.
Think I'd rather have Brodie and so would Dubas. Brodie is a very high hockey IQ player which is sorely lacking on the blueline. Bennett and Brodie should be deadline targets with an extension lined up for Brodie.
Eric Staal and Marcus Foligno at 50% retained would be interesting. Rather have Staal as the veteran on the team (an actual winner) over Spezza as the 3C and Foligno would be a great physical presence to add on the 3rd line and give almost every line at least one crash and banger.
Bringing in Foligno, Bennett and Clifford makes this team a lot harder to play against in the playoffs. Creates a lot more space for our skilled guys. - JohnFergusonJr
Would Calgary want to trade Brodie though? They are currently in a playoff spot, 1st wildcard, and tied in points with two teams in their division, so could end up 2nd or third in the division.
I'm sure you might argue that they aren't going to make it far in the playoffs or some such, but teams that are in a playoff spot near the TD don't usually trade off important players even if they're pending UFA's.
Hey, it could happen, but it seems about as likely as the leafs trading Barrie... (I don't care if anyone thinks they should trade Barrie, just that it's unlikely to happen) |

How about Barrie for Brodie? They get a RHD who still helps them push for the playoffs and the Leafs get a guy they actually could re-sign long term. |

Have you played there or just been to a game?
When it was the old Yardmen I saw a couple Belleville Bulls games there and it was a bit of a dump. Now it’s an incredible facility with 3 or 4 pads and a pool.....
Beer is super overpriced at the game though, and I’m used to prices at Leafs games. It was
Only a buck or so less than super expensive Toronto!! |

Seen the Bulls there, played there a few times way back and went to game last year...it is pretty cool and the pints were expensive but the experience was as good as a NHL game...cold beer - no wait - not a huge crowd. |
