First wave? If his math is correct why would he change his approach. Bullpen was decimated last year only reason they didn't make the playoffs, at least we ain't the Astros - BetweenTheDots
Change approach for several reasons, not drafting at the top, have built a solid team, sooner or later need pitchers, FA cost for a #1 has gone from $25 to $35 million, #2's are getting over $20m, wasn't able to turn position players into pitchers so far which was part of the plan. |

Your term is to long, price is to high, any team willing to offer that can take the risk |

With the same logic you develop players, Bryant leaves you have someone who can play his position and keep spending money towards FA pitchers, they'll probably trade him. Really no reason to change course. Baez is the guy we want to keep anyways

Theo didn't just turnover the entire development group because he's happy with them. Their failure has put him in a bind and shortened a window that should have been much longer. Imagine if they had developed simply one closer and two starters how different things would look? Carl Edwards was a disaster but that's on the major league pitching coach working with him to develop an illegal motion the entire last spring training. Dillon Maples has been another fail. I will admit some guys are great in a 5k seat stadium put them in front of TV and 40k fans and they are a different animal. No way to scout that. |

I think Baez is better than Bryant don't understand why he keeps getting less in arbitration but I'll take it. |

Somewhat off topic -
Liked this article - might have room for a signing - defense is full but a forward signing might work. Any of these guys worth it?

One of those CHL players Sean Josling played for the Blackhawks in the Traverse City tourney as a late add after a paperwork snafu by the team where other prospects who were originally invited couldn't take advantage of the opportunity.
One of those who missed out because of Hawks management's mistake was goalie Nico Daws who has been a premiere goalie for Guelph in the OHL and Team Canadia in the WJC. He's in his 2nd year of NHL draft eligibility with aim for being a top 50 pick.
Back to Josling, he wasn't anything special during the Traverse City games. He scored a garbage goal where Kurashev did 99% of the work. |

Baez is ten thousand times the player Kris “I’ve never played more than 100 games in a season cuz I’m always hurt” Bryant is.
But it doesn’t matter anyways.
The Cubs days are numbered. The White Sox are about to take over. |

Build the rest of the team the right way, and the you can win with an average netminder.

That's all right. These things gotta happen every five years or so, ten years. Helps to get rid of the bad blood. |

I know and I prefer it that way, I like being the minority and taking down the lovable losers with all their fans. |

Should’ve moved to Florida when they had the chance. |

The Cubs are no longer the lovable losers, and how do you take down a national league team? Shouldn’t White Sox fans discuss taking down Twins and Indians? I’ve always been confused by White Sox fans mission, like taking down Cubs. |

I struggle to believe 75 RBI's cost $18.5 million let alone the $25 they want long term. |

Back to Blackhawks hockey. Did Hawks practice this morning? Was Boqvist on the ice during practice? |

Question for the Blackhawks fans: has Dylan Strome been playing mainly Center, or Wing, or both evenly this season? |

You need talent, defense, and character to win, can’t win with players that only worry about their offensive stats. |

They’ll always have that label.
And I’m specifically talking about the city of Chicago and which team is currently having more success. Of course in general the idea is to win the division first and foremost. |
