The Yotes aren't going to do much of anything until they have a legit #1 Center. |

Leafs have been a flawed team from the onset of the rebuild. Defense and defensive minded play doesn't exist. The excuse that Toronto is still young is BS too. All of them have been in league for 2+ years and should know better.
Matthews kick pass in Dzone against NYR is perfect example of how they just don't think before they make low % plays, that result in turnovers in dzone and on both sides of the blue lines. 1st round exit, yet again |

Anyone shocked the Coyotes are blowing it?
Just wondering how far they can fall and hoping they don't win the lottery. |

The big question is, how much $$$ will they lose if they don't make the playoffs. |

Which shows you that he has it in him to play sound defensive hockey. Yet the kick pass mentioned shows that as a team, they think that their obscene level of offensive talent means they don't have to do so. That mentality, especially with such a poor D corp is 90% of their problems. |

If the Hurricanes are one of the leagues best teams, why do they only hold down the last wild card spot in the East? Just asking for a friend. |

They did lose 1 of the best D’s in the league and have a pair of throw away goalers 🤷🏻♂️ |

Is this honestly a real question? I don't want to sound crazy here, but I was under the impression, and was kind of taking it for granted that it was obvious that in a salary cap league of professional players there would be a lot of randomness involved in the standings.
Also, consider the goalie - any random AHL goalie can suddenly become a player who impacts games more than Connor McDavid, completely out of the blue, and alter entire seasons for teams.
The standings do not represent a list of the best teams, in order from 1 to ten.

Why would you only use 5v5 stats to describe Carolina's goaltending so far? If you look at all strengths they are 14th in Sv%.
If you factor in the quality of the shots (xG models) you could even argue that their goaltending has been superb. In terms of goals saved above expected (xGA-GA) Carolina is 5th using Naturalstattrick's model and 1st using Evolving-Hockey's model. In fact Evolving-Hockey has James Reimer 1st by wide margin in save percentage above expected (dFSv%).
Saying Carolina's goaltending has been poor is clearly wrong. Even if you just go by the classic save percentage, Carolina has gotten average to above average goaltending.
I would say that Carolina has been one of the best teams this season in terms of goaltending. |

If he played in Florida no one thinks there are defensive issues. He looks like a superstar and Hart trophy candidate right now.
It appears Babcock was te problem and he's gone. 110 point pace under Keefe with under .900 goial;tending. |

How did you go from “they have average to above average” to “one of the best”? Average goaltending isnt very difficult to have, hence it being the average. They could use an upgrade. |

Tanner, will the fines that are coming finally sewer this team out of the desert? I saw a report of 20 plus violations and have heard as high as 250k per. That’s a lot of cash for a bankrupt market. |

If you use a conventional stat like Sv%, then they are 14th overall - average to slightly above average.
However, I believe goals saved above expected is a much better measurement for goaltending, since it factors in the quality of the shots faced. Therefore I personally think their goaltending has been near the top of the league this season. |
