Thanks Carol,
Nice to see Pod get some goals. It would have been great to see him at the Young Stars.

I've never gotten too high on Rafferty this season. It'll be a nice surprise if he can play in the NHL, but it's hard to imagine his ceiling is too high given his age.
I know many were disappointed with the Podkolzin pick, but I think that'll all change once he spends a year or 2 in NA. He's got the tools to be a special player and I think he'll be added to the list of players we have where people wonder "How did all these teams pass on this guy?" |

Well done Carol. Pod looks to be another solid pick by Benning and co. |

He’s 18 years old, anyone who’s worried about his development should consider his circumstances. If he was turning 22 this spring, like Juolevi, and show little sign of development then I’d worry, until then, he’s just a kid with a lot of time in front of him. |

Thx Carol for another great article
I like the dig to some fans & for you putting it into a better perspective. OJ is another that impatience gets him a raw deal. |

Exactly, The KHL coach said Pod is getting more ice time as his D improves and no one should be in a hurry (per Dhaliwal). OJ's not doing bad either, hope he stays heathy. |

Totally agree
Rafferty is a nice find and hopefully can become a mobile 5, 6, 7 d-man in the NHL. That is not a bad thing at all - teams need to find value players for every spot in the line-up.
Pod is a beast and I expect will explode as soon as he starts playing with the likes of EP40, Bo, or Gaud. |

Pat Morris: Any deal we try to do, we don't try to update the press. The people in Vancouver, the media...oh my god, you guys on a daily basis... *laughs*
Living in Toronto, you think it's bad, but you guys are very prominent on the list of being very avid discussers of issues. |

In the case of Canucks fans, they're ecstatic about the upside of 24-year-old Brogan Rafferty, but already worried about Podkolzin. As a college free agent, Rafferty was certainly a nice find, but whether this recent scoring outburst turns out to be a blip or the start of something big, let's give the kid, Podkolzin, some time!
Well said Carol. |

Kind of Makita...perspective is important but people should be ecstatic about a free asset that’s exceeding any reasonable expectations. Podkolzin was an extremely expensive asset to acquire and therefore expectations are rightly higher.
Canucks fans have been spoiled recently with prospects like Elias, Hughes, Madden etc shattering expectations. Podkolzin isn’t really doing a whole lot, hence the criticism. Hopefully he pans out in the long run |

It's a tough situation given how the Russians operate. The only right answer is to be patient until they can get him over to NA, but we all know that won't happen. The fans and the media will continue to whip themselves into a frenzy as long as he isn't having an all star season in the KHL.
At least we get to see him in the WJC again next year |

I agree. At 21 Juolevi is also on this list for me. Still very young, still lots of potential to be realized.

People are stupid to be freaking out about Pod getting such limited time in the KHL. Most of his shifts he is showing that he can hang with the big boys, generates offense even if not getting on the score sheet. The kid will be good for us. |
