The Cat definitely needs to get going. He's in a Sikura like funk where I think he's trying too hard.

Sikura won't be making $6m next year. #TradeDinky.

- rpeters01

He's third on the team in scoring and on a 55-60 point pace. Yes his shooting percentage and thus his goal numbers are down, and he has mis-handled more pucks than in his previous 2 seasons. He's far from in a funk or in need of some huge kick in the pants.

I saw him using a scooter in Indy three years ago. He's wide and old.

Dach looked awesome last night! Maybe have him center Saad and Kane after the break? 3rd line will be Cat Carpenter Strome?
- SoftServe

Trade him and Boquist and our #1 pick for Caufield.

Everyone needs to get less focused on the result. I was in attendance last night. The Blackhawks were the better team most of the night. Except for a few softees by RL, it was a solid performance. And Bob was outstanding in the FLA win.

If they play like that every night, they may be able to win 2 of 3 the rest of the way.

All situations, Natural Stat Trick.

Corsi 61-51 CHI
Chances 40-31 CHI
High Danger 19-13 CHI
XGf 3.62 - 2.01 CHI

Ya. I was reading the board here during the game. Seeing the ridiculous "doom" posts and thinking..."C'mon fellas". We stole a few wins on goaltending earlier in the year, and now we have a "Goalie lose". It happens. The team played well. And, I agree. If they play this way the rest of the season, we have a shot.

One poster kept ranting about how we had to pass "so many" teams to get in. I almost believed it. He said. "It's not the 3-4 points we need. It is that too many teams we have to jump over". So....I look.

TWO....even AFTER the lose..... TWO....that is how many teams we have to pass. Yes there are teams right behind us. But, as it stands now...pass the Jets and then just ONE of the bunch...Vegas, Flames, Ariz, Oilers, Nucks...geez....any of them could go in the tank.

If this team can continue to win at a .600-.650 pace we are in the hunt. Period.

Go Hawks. Coming off the break, play like you have the last dozen games, and we got ourselves a race!!!!

Wiz or sure will remember, when the Hawks had both B. Hull and Mikita on the powerplay ( one played the point and the other played forward depending on which line was due), the fans used to scream bloody murder to shoot. At that time, they played 2 pointmen and 3 on top. They would go a whole 2 minutes passing the puck around the perimeter and not even looking to shoot. This Hawk power play looks like a Paul Westhead fast break offense compared to the Hawks in those years.
- LAHawk

Hull would T-up the slap shot from the point nobody was going to block that missle.

Heading into the all star break, the Hawks have to jump Winnipeg, Nashville, and one of 4 teams at 57 points (LV, AZ, Calgary and Edmonton) to find themselves in WC2. I don't think Win, AZ, Cal or Edm are any better than us, and LV and Nashville both have new coaches. Definitely not impossible to see us jump over 3 of those 6 teams.

What I worry about is that Stan "goes for it," and gives away assets just to make the playoffs, and lose in the first round. I don't think making the playoffs would be bad for the Hawks, but I don't want Stan to be a buyer at the TDL.

- tvetter

They don't have to jump Nashville, they are 3 points UP on them. Yes, I know Preds have games in hand....but so did the Jets a week ago....but lost them all. Preds are not what they were either. Hawks can challenge them, no doubt!

I do believe he got stale in the locker room and wasn't on the same page with Stan. I bet everyone would like a Mulligan now.

No mulligan needed or wanted. Regardless of what you think of Colliton, Q's time in Chicago was up. His dismissal was handled poorly and should have happened before the season began. Respect what he accomplished here, no need to want him back. All coaches have a shelf life.

First time I've seen these Blackhawk uniforms. Tough to watch on TV.
Barcodes on ice. Hawks deserve better than that.

Who can tell me their record wearing these jerseys?

I think they've won only 1 game wearing it over the last 1.5 years.

I want to say something like 1-4-1

Someone last night said we are now 3-4 with them. I'd rather they just bring back the black/red/white alternate from a few years ago.

Man what a decade....and I enjoyed the Kane and Q videos.

Big FU to nbc Chicago for not showing that Q video live. Instead we caught the tail end via applause. Even the florida network showed it. Classless. You could easily argue Q was just as popular as most of the players.....Hes gone, I hope he and Dale have success in Florida, but the Hawks had to move on. Don't feel it was handled the best way possible, but its last decade drama. Turn the page.

Game wise....by far not Lehner's best. Bad 1st and 5 hole goal. Can't happen. I get he had the post covered but his glove wasn't on top of his pad which allowed the fluttered chip to make it over and in. 5 hole right below the dot can't happen. That's a bad goal in a beer league.

4th goal is on Murphy....easily could have moved it up to Toews out of the zone for a 2 on 1 but instead fired it down...Florida comes back and Murphy is out muscled in a crease battle.

Nit picking a little, but this team doesn't have much room for error. Teams will catch up in the games in hand, and then Hawks will have some games in hand and may have to win those to catch back up out of the break.

I would ask that we all stop making excuses for guys when they aren't playing bad...earlier this year it was thought that Toews had some mystery back ailment and now that he is back being Johnny Toews, those excuses have stopped.

Same goes for DeBrincat. Guy is just in a rut. If he;s on the ice he's good enough to play. Everyone has nicks and bumps, and this theory on some magical wrist or hand injury doesn't jive.

Doesn't make him an overall bad player but he needs to step it up. Getting stoned on point blank chances isn't a bad thing as you are in the right spot and getting those chances, and you stick with it. When you aren't scoring and NOT getting chances that is THE issue. He needs to start figure out his 1 timer because he's "heeling" a lot of them and hes counted on to pump those in. If hes not the PK against can move closer to Kane or Toews knowing 12 isn't a back door threat. Example....the chance where Kane goes down to Toews, Toews come from the side of the net and gives it to DeBrincat and the kid doesn't even get his shot on goal. That can't happen. Last year that's in the net in a nano second.

If you haven't seen it great picture post game with Toews, Seabrook, Kane, and Keith chatting it up with Dale and Q in the hallway. Shows the respect Q had from those guys. Great to see.

Lastly....

--11 games until the trade deadline
--31 games left, 17 on the road

What has sunk this team? How about being tied for the 4th worst home record in the league? 12-12-3 is extremely pathetic.

Only the Devils, Wings, and Canadiens are worse. Tied with Winnipeg with .500 w/l, not including OT/SO losses. Goal should be getting 41 points in those 31 games to ensure playoffs....as usually 95 gets you in.

What's hilarious is when McDonough was first hired they scrapped the ole black alternate that wasn't a throw back.....

Now they are pimping these things non stop......ironic, eh?

I look at games played vs points accumulated.

Wild card standings

Arizona 51 gp, 57 points
Vegas 52 gp, 57 points
----------------------------
Jets 50 gp, 54 points
Hawks 51 gp, 54 points
Preds 47 gp, 51 points
wild 49 gp, 50 points
sharks 50 gp, 46 points

You also have in the top 3 for either division

Dallas 48 gp, 58 points
Vancouver 49 gp, 58 points
Edmonton 49 gp, 57 points
Calgary 50 gp, 57 points

Problem is you will have the pacific top 3 start accumulating more points and same with Dallas.

So you are left chasing wild card teams, and then you factor in the dreaded 3 point games which hurt even more. Hawks need the top 3 in each division to win games in regulation against wild card leaders AND teams at or below them in wild card standings.

I heard Foley say "only 3 points out" which is true but I cringe because he's not telling the ENTIRE picture with games in hand, etc. Points in the bank matter a ton when factoring games in hand....so all these games matter just as much as say the last 10, so when they don't show up in November it has just as much as an impact as not showing up in middle of March.

They just need to stick with red/white.

I wouldn't mind them going back to white at home.....growing up you never saw those until highlights on the news unless you went to games.

Now it's all about these outdoor game sweaters and it's played out. Only thing worse would be green on the St Patrick day game...….

Then this happened. From ‘The Hockey News’

The AHL has handed Bakersfield Condors defenseman Brandon Manning a five-game suspension for use of a racial slur during Monday’s contest against the Ontario Reign.

Manning’s suspension relates to an altercation between he and Reign forward Bokondji Imama in the second period of a Condors 3-0 loss to the Reign. Per the contest’s box score, both Manning and Imama were assessed matching roughing minors six minutes into the middle period, at which point Manning was also slapped with an additional misconduct.

I don’t mind the historically based retro throwbacks a few times a year, especially when the other team does the same. The modern black sweaters are just butt ugly.

If Bettman had his way, he would remove all physical contact from the NHL and integrate women into the sport.

Call me whatever, but I enjoyed watching the USa vs Canada women's gold medal Olympic game a few years back.

I also have played hockey for decades and skating in a beer league....I don't mind no check, aka rub in the corners, as much as I thought I would.

I am more impressed with a person's skill/skating then their ability to check. There is a skill to open ice checking, but it doesn't hold a candle to pure skill and vision and speed.

1) OK, so??

2) If that were remotely true, he'd let the concussion research see the light of day and stop denying the linkage.

How the heck did you get to this from that video clip?

Welcome to marketing. They found that they received a lot of positive response from her being included last year and they went back to the well to try and grow the brand even more. If that ends up creating more revenue that ultimately boosts the finances of the league and your team has a better chance of keeping their best players.
