Agree on Cory unfortunately.
How about Sami retained/Domingue to Tor for Kapanen and Ceci if they need the money to work out? Would you consider a conditional pick for Sami resigning? I think he might come back in FA and I woudl be ok giving up a third or similar. If we need a goalie give us Hutch too. If I were Fitz I think I'd move Wayne to Pitt for Gally both FAs so Pitt gets grit, we get a reclamation project to try and sell to be here when the team contends, thoughts?

LOL sending Simmonds to Pittsburgh can you think of two teams Wayne probably hated more when he was in Philly?

Just saying.

In retrospect I think the whole trade with Vancouver was a bad decision; in retrospect. We needed a rebuild, not an elite goalie. But I don’t think that mentality existed then so it was understandable.

Quotes weren't working...

Lou was never going to rebuild at that point and really got just what he wanted and probably more from Schneider so in that respect it was a great deal. Looking back it sure would have been nice to pick a young guy who might become a star. Ironically, the highest rated defenseman still on the board when the Devils would have been picking at #9 was...Mirco Mueller. That definitely would have helped the tank.

Over the last three seasons, 54 goaltenders have manned the crease for at least 3000 minutes. Louis Domingue (.899) is the only one with a worse save percentage than Schneider (.900).

And they're both on our team, great.

Totally agree Lou wouldn’t do a rebuild and thank god we didn’t draft Mirco Mueller. That’s pretty ironic.

I really don't know how many more personnel moves they have left to make. The young guys need veterans around them and I think it is way more destructive than beneficial to just clear out all the older guys and let the kids get rolled. The problems here are firmly in the dressing room.

Look at Pittsburgh, decimated by injuries and icing a roster that on paper looks not good (more so before Crosby was back), but succeeding because they have organizational structure, leadership and the right coach. They can all say as many good things as they want about Hynes and co. but that clearly was something this team never really had. The most important decision they are going to make is the coaching staff. Hire someone established, and get these guys actually playing a certain way as opposed to the wild free for all we've been watching the last two+ seasons. Picking top five again wont hurt (Drysdale or Perfetti please) but this is the biggest thing they have to get right.

I don't care ultimately who they keep or trade on D as that corp is a disaster. As far as forwards go. obviously keep our 1st overalls in Nico and Jack. Keep Palmieri Gusev and Coleman. Any one else I don't care what they decide to do with them. Yeah I like Bratt but I'm not smitten with him that he's a must keep if he can be swapped in a trade that leads to an upgrade. And Boquist needs more time and you can see his potential so I wouldn't be rushing to trade him. Anyone else though shouldn't be safe. And of course keep Blackwood someone has to show some ability to play at an NHL level in goal.

It is just so depressing. Another year burnt - and only worried about lottery balls now, pathetic. There are very few players that are untouchable, so if the right offer comes along then sure do it. I just do not see any team out there really giving enough up for Coleman so not worried about that.

I'm not sure whether a buy out of Cory would be a good thing or not. Is it better to keep him at a 6 mil cap hit for 2 more years while they are nowhere near cap ceiling, or extend the misery and take a 2 mil cap hit for 4 more seasons?

Also, unless Vatanen is asking for 6 plus years I'd prefer to keep him, unless someone is offering a massive overpayment. Devils trade him or let him walk and the Dmen under contract next year look like this:

Subban, Severson, Butcher, Carrick. That's just disgusting, but hey, at last Tennyson is under contract again next year.

I don’t think the buyout thing matters as we haven’t been near the cap in what, 6 years. Just make the best hockey decision.

The worst part with this team is nothing really changes. We have Nas instead of Hynes but no real pro coaching. We have Fitzgerald instead of Sheri but no moves. No offers to Gallant. No rumors. Just as Lou would say ‘status quo’.

When you have time use it and apparently we have until forever.

This is kinda random but how far out do you guys think Askarov is? We could definitely use an elite goalie.

Would rather draft a top D prospect or a winger that can put the pick in the net

I mean we have a bunch of holes, I think blackwood can hold the fort

That's true. Either way whatever position we draft it fits a need.
